Both. I run a 6/6/6/4/4 build, and I can very easily top the scoreboard in Gold.

You can do both.
You are less tanky, but the awareness and boosts from Hunter Mode are good.

This time I went without Hunter Mode, though and I'm thinking of going for Shield Recharge on Fortification. With that and Multicapacitor I can get a Shield recharge of 1.8 seconds easy.

What?
Why waste the geth soldiers unique ability for something many other characters can do?
6/6/6/6/0 All the way.

I used to die a LOT as Flamer Trooper. Then I tried the Acolyte on him and it all made sense. The easy AoE stagger combined with shield stripping means you don't need Cyclonic on him anymore and can instantly annihilate...anything. It's kinda ridiculous.

With the Acolyte, I find Hunter Mode saves me a lot more pain than it causes. The ability to detect enemies reliably when you have a weapon that bounces off walls and can stagger while depleting all their shields? Oh my lawd...

Edit: Also, anyone know an easy way to get rid of the 6/6/6/6/6 bug without promoting?

Personally I prefer 6/6/6/0/6.

I dont know why people constantly feel the need to choose between Fortification, Flamer, and Hunter Mode, and I dont think any are worth giving up.

Honestly, if you've got an Acolyte 10, Hurricane (any level), or Talon you've already got the firepower necessary to drop shields, from there its all about Flamer... which absolutely wrecks armor (properly specced).

Given that there are relatively low weight weapons that can effectively drop shields in seconds, I dont see why the Geth passive tree is remotely necessary. Hunter Mode = extra damage AND situational awareness, and Flamer = health/armor annihilation, throw in Fortification+Full Fitness and you've got one of the deadliest CQC characters in the game.

If you want to skip Hunter Mode go play a Vorcha, if you want to skip Flamer go play the N7 Destroyer, if you want both bad@s$ abilities play the Geth Soldier.

If you don't spec into flamer how will you destroy an unshielded atlas in one cast? Answer: you won't.

priceless and completely appropriate!

Now, is that With or without power amps?

You can use amps but no gear. Also no DoT.
