People complaining about how this challenge is 'stupid' and 'promotes bad play'.

You do realize this is a WAR, right? No MATTER WHAT, people are going to get injured, be it a civilian, or your Krogan Vanguard specced to be a living tank.

It's called realize your freaking limitations. Be the medic. You know why?

In real life a soldier goes down. It's not because he's a bad soldier you freaking scrubs. It's because he is un- fsking- lucky. This game is no different. You want realism? Fine, hey Bioware. Spec it up to where if you get thunked in the noggin by a Nemesis, your melon pops and you drop immediately, no gel, nothing.

There is no 'bad' play. There's just teammates unwilling to learn or to teach because they think they are god's gift to the game, and believe it to be beneath them.

End of rant 0402 mountain.

For a lot of people, the idea of needing to get a revive medal in an entire weekend is... meh... it'll happen anyways.

For those of you for whom it wouldn't happen anyways, it will encourage you to practice useful skills for team play.

Learn 'em or don't get a commendation pack.

Problem is I can't revive people when they don't go down because I keep everyone alive too well and if they do go down I end up being the meat shield while someone else does the like 2 - 3 revives in an entire match

IRL =/= Video game stuff.

And yes, it promotes bad play. I never see first aid medals in my matches. So we'd have to die on purpose so that my teammates could get the commendation pack, and vice versa for me.

And having Nemesis capable of oneshotting you could be interesting, if BioWare would tone down other Cerberus stuff, like Phantom On Host DR. Would make Cerb more varied.

Wow, that's seriously the most you could come up with? That's the most pathetic assault on a point I have seen, and I've been a failure at LD debate.

So let's attack this from the head, shall we?

You're facing an enemy that either:

1) Has Networked Intellect, meaning it should become smarter as the unit density becomes higher. Thus, armor and shields will go down quicker as higher-level enemies coordinate fire with lower.

Just like in real life. Think I am incorrect? Look at how people tend to bring tanks and other armored vehicles down: Combined Arms.

2) Has poured virtually unlimited resources into finding out how to 'advance humanity's interests', apparently by cutthroat operations and outright murder.

Gee, again another parallel. Most insurgencies aren't in it for the pay or the hours, you know.

3) Are part of a hive-mind controlled by a singular consciousness. Or, in simpler terms, pawns so fanatic they will mindlessly assault anything.

Gee, this is starting to seem familiar.

4) Have spent millions upon millions of years learning to perfect the art of terminating life.

This seems to be the only one that I can't parallel.

In your matches? Ooh lah lah. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen. It just means you have a team with the luck required to avoid getting took out.

See point one. A soldier who gets shot isn't bad, just unlucky.

If this comes across as overly hostile, that's not my intent. It's 0420, and my stomach feels like someone is hitting it with a sledgehammer.

* see squadmate(s) inside the reactor - push the button
* see possesed abomination close to squadmates or giving squadmate a hug - kheeel it!
* stand in the doorway and block the retreat path for squadmates
* see glacier swarm - shoot it and make it angry, it will increase the chances of downed squadmate
* see hunter sneaking up on squadmates, let him, later kill the hunter and revive the squadie

the ultimate troll weekend op

I actually had the pleasure of my first game on silver with a whole squad of players who were obviously new - rankings scarcely into double figures, level 6 characters, level 1 or 2 weapons - that sort of thing. I was ready to do my bit to support the community, but damn it was frustrating.

I think this weekend challenge is to pacify long time players like us by giving us a useful contribution from the noobs - ie dying a lot.

Sorry to sound uncharitable but a spade is a spade!

IRL, a soldier who gets shot is just unlucky, but in a fricking video game, it's a mistake that the player made that lead to getting shot.

Wrong once more.

I get shot in cutscenes. I get shot all the time in campaign, but I don't go down, because I time it correctly.

It's all luck.

Well that's the point of the Operation right? Getting downed so that people can rez you and vice versa.

Provided I don't have 400 ms latency, if I don't want to get downed, I usually won't get downed.

For those who don't know, it has already been said that this week was the operation week that Volus Vanguard had been previously set to come out on, until they gave him to us early.

Hence the Operation name "Geronimo" and the many revives needed. Hope this makes sense.

Considering 90% of the challenges they thrown at us usually take me between 10 to 30 mins to complete (or maybe 2 or 3 games at most) it ain't a big deal at all. Especially stuff like "extract as base human characters", that's it? That's the challenge? Or stuff like score 'x' points with Assault rifles... hmmmk, takes me one Silver game and it's done, next?

Meh, "challenges" they say. It's more like "try that one for the heck of it, maybe it's also going to be challenging".

That's the point of the op, not the point of my statement.

You are making the incorrect assumption that injuries and deaths are based on a skillset or a specific trait on players.

I am counterpointing that it is merely luck. Even the best player gets tagged from time to time. Even on Bronze, or Silver. A lot on Gold and Platinum (One time I played platinum, I am certain that they got a revive medal just off me. Why? Because I was always just an inch in the wrong way. I'm not a bad player, but I ain't the best. I'm just unlucky.)

Further to my semi rant above...
It isn't that I have a problem with new players or that they were particularly bad, but with characters & gear at that sort of level & with less experience to compensate, it makes everything so much harder. Still having new players will help encourage Bioware to maintain support, so that's a good thing.

I just think it's better to have 1 or 2 new players on a squad not a whole bunch of them. The rest of us will still get plenty of chances for the revive medals!

Do not understand people complaining about this mission... you play with a team, as a good member of the team, revive people when they fall, and you're done. Do people on BSN just not play well with others?

Something like that, mate. People seem to think they are god's gift to Co-Op play, and therefore never will fall.

It's just a point being made to state that 'skill' has nothing to do with getting shot.

I should have clarified.

Seeing as it seems no one noticed my post, I'd like to mention to everyone that they expected a lot of Volus Vanguards flying around this week when they designed the challenge.

So bad players or playing badly wasn't what they were trying to get everyone to do. Everyone was expected to play as the Volus Vanguard.
