Yeah, I'm annoyed that one button does everything.

Come on BSN. How did this survive unmolested for nearly 2 years?

There is nothing more frustrating for a mobility-based character than to be sucked into the Swiffer-brand cover while trying to escape a sticky situation. Even when I'm not running toward it, it'll suck me in so that my character looks like a massive idiot, taking cover on a wall that's completely exposed. If destructable cover was added, I could not only make it easier for my poor level 1 Drell to move around without exposure to Red Green's furnature, but I could get revenge on it too.

You haven't analyzed the problem properly. The real problem are the controls, with one button to rule them all. If we had different ones for sprint, cover and use, then you wouldn't slam into walls instead of running past them or be unable to dodge because some moron just died at your feet.
That being said, I would design the maps with less obvious cover but allow the players to drop to the floor to dodge. A tiny bit more realistic.

Reported.

Numerous other games have solved this one: CoD, Battlefield, Watch Dogs to name a few. A lot of games also allow a choice of control schemes. Biovar left two selectors unused on the console gamepads, which is a shame.

I haven't heard Red Green mentioned in years. You must be Canadian.

Pun intended?
I don't know if I agree. 8 weeks short of 2 years is a pretty long while.
