It wouldn't have to worry about censors and they show could have violence and sex in it just like the games. With hour long episodes they could expand on the characters really well. I wouldn't really want them to retell the stories of the game but act as a side story taking place along side events or something like that and have an on going story line mixing old and both new characters and expanding on side characters it could focus both on drama and action

HBO are really the only people I'll trust with outside content.

I'd definitely watch a HBO series of Mass Effect. I'd much prefer that to a movie, where they'd have to squeeze a massive amount of content into a two to three hour space.

I would enjoy this! I love the Game of Thrones series, and I'm a fan of the books as well. I think they could do Mass Effect justice.

Perhaps it would be better as an HBO Show. As a movie, the Stories in the Trilogy would end up being Compressed, and that is difficult to pull off. As a Series, you can do EVERYTHING.

As an HBO Show, you can still have quite possibly the same amount of budget used if it were a Film Trilogy.

I would like a new story in the Mass Effect universe.

In television or film you could tell stories that just couldn't work in a video game.

You could see the Mass Effect universe from the point of view of someone who isn't a soldier. Just a group of average joes exploring the universe in the midst of the chaos.

I would lothe playing as an average joe, but watching relatable characters trying to survive in the midst of a Reaper war would be epic!

You need to think along the lines of: what can film and television programs excel at that video games can't?
Don't do a rehash of the events of Mass Effect 1. It just won't work.

If they could make it in the same vein as say BSG ( 2004 - 2009 ), ide be happy to see a ME TV series on HBO, i mean it is probably better suited to being a quality TV series than trying to cram it all into a movie.

If they made a ME HBO series, I would actually get HBO just for that series. But I wouldnt be surprised at all if Biower and EA went the route of a movie which bombed immediately.

I'd rather see Mass Effect as a TV series then a movie to be honest.

Showtime could pull this off as well Many forget Stargate was a series and it began on showtime and they will need a filler for Dexter.

Booooobs.

But in all seriousness, I am not sure if even HBO could put the funds up to afford it. Turians and krogans would need to be CGI, and that gets costly if you are using them as a main character. I believe there is already some concern as to whether or not HBO can afford to finish game of thrones. I am sure popularity will save it, but if they are sweating over that...

An animation could be possible though.

The budget would have to be bloody insane to bring the ME verse and all it's marvels to fruition.

It would probably be better suited as a HBO tv series, than a film. At least in the tv series people would shower like normal human beings.

It would be the best possible fit for the format....but, too much $$$$. Maybe if ABC can figure out a way to make the Star Warslive action  TV show viable and keep the CGI costs down, HBO could copy their model. Disney owns ABC though so money really isn't a problem for them.

Lol, HBO? Let's start with Machinima first. Everybody knows about the ending debacle and it's doubtful HBO would invest in something unless they know will be well-recieved.

The only way i think ME could work in anoher type of media is TV series.

1 season for each game.

And if could be made by HBO or AMC i go crazy.

Movies i think it will rush the story too much.

Presuming they focused more on story and character rather than mindless sex scenes, sure, I'd watch it.

You're joking right? No one cares about bandwagon haters. You are a fool if you think ME series is ruined because of one ending in a 3 video game series. Let's not even talk about the free DLC from Bioware that improved everything.

I would do it as a side story that takes place during the games but serves a side story from the view of other characters and see events unfold from another point of view.

Television is an outdated medium A web series or anime would be best. Historically, video games turned into movies do not do well with the over 12 crowd(Case in point, Wing Commander, with exceptions such as Resident Evil).

Have it on hbo and have it direct produced by ronald d moore. The two would get along great giving the middle finger to the fans at the end of the story.

Bull crap. If anything it has shown in recent years that if done right (Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Game of Thrones.) it can handle long form dramatic content and large sweeping story arcs better than just about any type of visual medium.
