While I may have been disappointed in 3, and one of like five people who didn't like 2, thanks. Seriously. For the last what six (?) years I have stayed glued to every piece of ME news I could find. I remember doing dozens of playthroughs for each game just to see every option so I could plan my canon, and waffling on most of them.
I never played a game like the first Mass Effect before and when I did it completely blew me away. I was drawn into the story, the galaxy and the characters. I think the last game I got completely caught up in a story, world and characters was the Xenosaga trilogy. And I remember crying that that game was over while the end credits rolled on game 3.
ME1 was the first game I played that let me be a female and I just loved FemShep, she was a blast to play. I also went crazy for Garrus, so thank you very much for both of them. And of course for a romance between these two.
ME1 remains my favorite game of this gen and it goes in my top 5 favorite games of all time.
So weird that it's over, I remember being sad when ME3 came out but now that the last DLC is upon us and talks of ME4, it's like.... wow, it's really over. So bittersweet.
