Until the writers are in place, you can't really tell.

This.

I'm complacent with their game design. Omega had some of the best levels.

I notice nobody really talks about the writers for Omega.

Perhaps because it would require criticism of a writer that isn't Walters?

Well, it wasn't bad at all, I felt. The lack of autodialogue really made it for me - sure we normally only had 2 options, but it's better than not having any options in conversations.

Though, there's no way to tell how good the game will be. You can't really judge an RPG on level design and combat alone. We need to have something a lot more tangible.

No, they just dismiss the writing period for that DLC.

And if they get announced as the writers for ME4, I'm sure the scrutiny will come pouring in.

I've seen plenty of people touch on that subject, however, I think more of the problem with that DLC was the lack "of", not specifically the writing itself(although there are comlaints in there as well).

I don't think so. Hubs, squadmates, and all the other gimmicks add a lot less than people think. It comes down to the same principles it always has. A good story, good characters, good environment, etc.

Isn't he just taking a producer role and not leading the project? IIRC he's involved with the new IP they're working on so I doubt he'll be pulling double duties.

The only thing I can say is that we have a lot of chances that the gameplay will end up being pretty solid.
Story? Well... We'll talk about it once we know who are the writers.

Tell me, did you know how Omega would turn out once you know who the writers were?

Do you know who are writers were for it now?

He's referring to Bioware Edmonton which is the studio that developed Omega.  They are currently the studio assigned to Mass Effect 4.   Bioware Montreal is the other studio thats worked on Mass Effect though I don't know what they're responsible for.

Can't say. Their work on the MP is super awesome, and Omega wasn't awful (just too pricey). A lot can go wrong though. E.g. the amount of resources made available to them may be significantly different (the next game is possibly envisioned as a quick money grab, kind of like DA2).

take a look see at the official blog post by Bioware announcing the retirement of the Dr. Ray. It specifically mentions Casey gathering his team for the next Mass Effect as well as coming up with a new IP

1. Wasn't this same thread made a week ago? Cause I'm getting deja vu here.

2. Who wrote omega's dlc? What were the writers names? I don't honestly know and would like to know.

Wrong. Edmonton developed the trilogy. Montreal developed Omega and is heading up ME4
