Only things that you do in the actual single player game should effect the single player game. MP or Co/op shouldn't have one stitch of effect on the SP game.

I think a co-op campaign would've been a great multiplayer aspect. However, I get why some would not want it to affect singleplayer. I think if it were to affect singleplayer in any way it should've been in either codex entries or small cameos of your multiplayer characters doing something in the background of a scene in SP.

I could see that working better

I would quite enjoy a co-op campaign, tbh.

A co-op campaign would be a fun side-story to show another part of the war.  But it really shouldn't impact the SP in anyway at all.  There could maybe be a few brief mentions or nods to it in the SP but nothing more than that.

Thats still something that sp only players wouldn't have access to.

Co-op should improve existing singleplayer imho.

Why didn't you just put that sentence in the thread title?

I, initially, hoped/thought that multiplayer was the ability for friends to play as your squadmates in missions. With perhaps added difficulty for added "humans".

I'd rather not have coop forced upon my single player game, but I thought it would have been nice with the above feature.

In anycase I find the mp we got fun and I am enjoying it thoroughly. Though I have to agree it was silly to couple that with single player. For those who couldn't/wouldn't go online and so on.

I'm not sure we need another SWTOR

MP should never have been in any way able to effect SP.
I find it ridiculous that because I played a hell lot of MP, I don't *need* to do any side missions at all.

20,000++ EMS when I start at Palaven kinda makes *any* side mission redundant.

As I'm the only person in my circle of friends who played Mass Effect, making multiplayer and integral part of the story would have pretty much gutted any sense of immersion into the story for me.

No.
(Can we get a Sten 'no' pic in here?)

Interestingly, I just tried multiplayer last weekend (have had the game since release day). I was thinking that maybe I'd try and get a few characters promoted to lessen bothering with war assets as much in SP....then found out that if you play offline (as I usually do) that those assets won't be included because (for us 360 players) the game requires you to be connected to Xbox Live to get them.

(For the record, to play online I have to physically move my console and television to another location, so it's not really an option for me to just stay connected all the time. I typically only do that to download dlc.)

I like the second option actually. Then people who played MP would be rewarded with out the SP missing out on anything important.

Do you know why so many people hate multiplayer? It's because SP always pays a price for it, always. You remember all the complaining about step and fetch it missions, the game being too linear, and fixed dialog? That was because of MP. You see, when game companies decide to be hip and do MP with their franchise they can't do MP and give SP the same attention that they used to. So, SP pays the freight so that MP can take center stage. That is why so many people groaned when they heard MP was being inserted into the game.

And before anybody starts yammering about how MP didn't have any impact on SP, I will remind you about how the war assets were heavily favored to playing MP. Despite a completionist play through, if you didn't play MP there was no way in Hades that you were going to get the best ending. After they got MP up and running they re-balanced the war assets so that SP could get the best ending without MP months after the release. Never mind that those who paid for ME3 paid the same price as those who love MP. However, we were punished for not participating.

SP always pays for MP, always.

Multiplayer should never have touched single player at all. Zero points of contact.

Heck, MP should have had it's own frakking disk or download and be a completely optional install

I do enjoy co-op to be fair, Gears of war with 4 of you is pretty cool, Same as dead island which was just awesome, Dead space 3 will be good to see if it takes immersion away from SP as i believe that has co-op. I don't really see it working with ME but in the right hands it could be achieved. As bad as resi 5 was as regards to lore and story, it was pretty cool to jump in and out of friends games with all your items/weapons with you.

More ok? Multiplayer should have nothing to do with singleplayer, it has to be optional. I love ME3 multiplayer, but I want to be able to turn off the war assets I got from it. My Shepard who lost half of the squad, didn't do any fetch quests and made some terrible decisions reached the best possible ending (same ending that my perfect Shep had). It's just stupid.

yeah. MP and SP needs to be completely isolated from eachother.

Captain Riley and her squad should have been made from some of your MP characters, other than that I've got no complaints.

As someone who has spent much more hours in MP and SP: No. MP should'n have any sort of impact to SP campaign.

I would have been happy with the MP inclusion if it didn't effect the SP EMS...the 50% cut off is BS and shouldn't be there....<_<

Let's be serious, Captain Riley should have been a fully fleshed out character with a face too, as well as a squadmate, along with any survivors of her team. However, that's just my opinion.

I agree, but at least it is somewhat mitigated by the EC changing WA values needed.
