The most woman-hating line in the game...

Get it? lol. Women's sex organs smell like fish. Or dead animals. Or something gross.
Mmm...smells like misogyny.
I'm pretty sure I'm not being a hardline feminist here saying this line is specifically expressing hatred for women's genitals. It's not like I don't call crap when people say "lolol the penis is so ugly" (especially "lolol the uncircumsized penis is so ugly") and happily support the artists I know actively working to take the perception of obscenity from male nudes in art andthe American media. However, Dragon Age in particular doesn't have a throwaway line (that I know of) describing men's sex organs as an object for disgust.

As one that has actually chosen that line, after making sure my approval rating was high enough to survive any possible negative impact, I can tell you that her reaction is less than yours.

And I didn't take it that way. I thought "going into underwear" as "get in someone's pants", as in, having an intercourse. So Warden may be mocking her taste of men... or whatever Morrigan found in the forest without any humans around. Either case, it was more of a mocking line on Morrigan's personal story rather than an insult meant at women.

Sorry, but my impression is that this was just meant as an amusing poke at Morrigan -- I didn't even get the impression that the player needs to be serious when he/she says it. If we aren't "equal opportunity" enough to also include disparaging remarks about male genitalia then I guess we'll just have to bear that heavy burden.

That's more or less irrelevent. Institutionalized sexism affects both male and female behavior. If you're suggesting women don't behave in misogynistic ways you have only to look as far as the popularity of, say, tabloid magazines and how women in the American culture have been trained to tear each other down to enhance their own feelings of desirability and self-worth.
Projecting the idea that Morrigan's a **** and her genitals are gross, as the game as a whole allows the player to do with a variety of 'funny' lines, is still objectionable whether the script is written by a man or a woman.

Misogyny? I find it to be an ill-placed, crass joke, but it's the only one of its kind. While you DO take quite a bit of crap as a female Warden, you can't really be a complete mysogynist as a male. And, if it makes you feel any better, the vast majority of players (me, everybody else), having been wrapped around Morrigan's finger, didn't pick that line.
Being a feminist in DA2 would kick ass though (this is coming from a male here...).
You could **** repeatedly over any remark that a male makes, and viciously beat back advances from male party members
No offense intended, obviously. I'm not including the more moderate, "strong woman" type of feminist, as, by essentially leading the charge against the Darkspawn horde and taking tough decisions over the men in your party, you're being that anyway.
EDIT All right, screw it. It is a little bit crass, but so are most immature, funny thinks. Damn great line, love BW writers for understanding that, deep inside, we all need a bit of humour like this

Considering Morrigan's response; "I'm just going to pretend I didn't hear that", roughly, I don't she was very offended either. I expected to get nuked to oblivion, both in the cutscene, and approval. End result on approval? Zero, she didn't have any reaction other than the above line.David Gaider wrote...

a) Maybe someone might actually want to roleplay a misogynist? It's only misogynistic if you want it to be. There are plenty of lines about Alistair's hygiene and that doesn't mean it's anti-male to have them in the dialogue. Me, I am not the kind of person who goes around looking for misogyny under every rock. YMMV.
a) is a great idea. Being able to act out misogynistic and, hey, why not racist fantasies in a video game would certainly invite an unprecedented level of realism into a game.

Oh get over yourself, Callie. It is ONE optional line of what 4 or 5. This game isn't politically correct if you haven't noticed.

Of course, here's to hoping the OP is just stirring the pot because he or she is bored.

Or maybe it's because everybody ass stinks. Why specifically women? Besides, the female warden can say it too. It is just a jab at Morrigan herself.Callie K wrote...

AND STOP USING THE WORD MISOOGYNY. It's a very specific term, and it seems to be thrown about a lot, even when it's just about regular sexism, or in this case, not sexism at all.
The keyword is ''hate''. Not all sexists hate women, they just look down on them.
