Get it? lol.  Women's sex organs smell like fish.  Or dead animals.  Or something gross.

Mmm...smells like misogyny.

Maybe poor Morrigan is suffering from bacterial vaginosis.  :crying:  They must have a balm for that.

Finally!  A use for all those Greater Nature Salves that tend to accumulate in my backpacks...

No wonder she's always cranky.

Hey, no one messes with my dog. Not even my (virtual) boyfriend.

Thank you... I needed that today :).

Back on topic. There's a whole series of comments from Shale about the control rod and how Wilhem used to fondle iot until his wife made him stop, which could be taken as reverse sexism....

Personally, I just laughed until tears came out of my eyes.

Oh wait... Shale's love of jewelery and the comments about the crystals making Shale look wider are sexist too...

And if you believe that I have a bridge to sell you.

Despite the line, she can't be all that bad, Dog loves her.

I thought it meant what the OP thought, and was a little surprised, but it didn't offend me. It was a nasty crack directed at Morrigan, not all women. There are opportunities to do and say lots of nasty unpleasant things in this game which I can't bring myself to do, but don't have a problem with them being there. Since there are lots of options to be kind, I don't have a problem with there being options to be a bastard (the bad kind, not Alistair's kind. ;)

I'm sorry i can't understand your complexity, i'm just a regular straight white guy... wish i was a black jew communist feminist gay so i could argue about how much everything is against me.

Oh wait but i'm italian, so i have mustaches and i eat spaghetti. I want some italian racism in DAO so i can complain a bit.

Actually, with the immediate flood of responses to this post in defense of being able to tell women to get in the kitchen and that their genitals are filthy, I'm starting to think "hardline feminist" is a good thing to be called and retract my statement.  I think somebody has to be one.

The game as a whole is relatively problematic, a fantasy world where, if you pick a female character, you get to listen to people exclaim how rare and novel it is to see a female warrior/mage/rogue out in the world.  Sten disbelieves you could possibly have female sex organs.  Alistair is happy that the eternal Grey Warden question of "Will there be girls there?" is finally "Yes."  Even Morrigan later relates her shock upon first seeing you that she ever came across a bold and competent woman.  Despite having more than one strong female character, DAO loves to talk about the novelty of strong female characters.  "Look at us!  We remembered to include girls!  Remember, kids, old European society was not feminist!'

Welcome to Dragon Age: Origins, sorry we're out of smiley suns and rainbows. Today's special is darkness with a side of questionable moral intents!

Whoop-ti-do.  You just have a chip on your shoulder.

I don't think this comment can be considered misogynistic until you prove to me that women never suffer from genital odor due to bacterial vaginosis, trich, chlamydia, or gonorrhea (thus making the snipe always false), and that the line was not directed just at Morrigan but every woman (thus making it always universal).

Otherwise you're inferring what is not implied.

And yes, Thedas is backward in many ways.  It would be a lot more boring if it were not.

This would not be acceptable in the real world--because it hurts someone's feelings, not because it is sexist.

Morrigan has no feelings to hurt.

Scabs- Pure genius there, I agree 100% (despite not coming up with it myself, and being both stupid and noncommital). Yeah, Morrigan's feelings go a bit deeper than "OMFG, it smelz lik fishez, lulz", so she'd take it for what it is, a jibe. In the real world, if you said that to someone you didn't know too well, their impression of you would be "insensitive bastard" not "OMFG, he dnt liek womenz."

Maybe in the expansion, we'll get Sven, who is a tall, blond warrior who dislikes everything about Amaranthine/Ferelden, other than the pasta...

An here I just assumed that comment about stinky underwear was because Morrigan doesn't like to bathe....

Now it turns out she's got a yeast infection! Note to self - stop having sex with Morrigan.....

I could say misandric things to Alistair, bigoted things to Zevran and Oghren, and gerontophobic things to Wynne...

The OP was capable of saying many mean things fitting for the player who is playing such a role. Why are you singling out just misogyny?

You know it. I also wrote the line where you get to tell Leliana to shut up and help make dinner that someone declared was cruel.

I just hate myself and all others of my sex. Clearly. I mean, I was talking about it to Mary and she said that she's at a loss to think of a single line I've written that wasn't a deep insult to all women everywhere, ever.

Poor Callie. When she actually does encounter real bigotry, no one will take her seriously because she does stuff like this.

Allright, we've passed the 50 replies, so just to summarize for those of you who are just tuning in:

OP is an extremist idiot with a skewed world-view, directly attacked Bioware, got owned by David Gaider, and then everybody, men and women alike, tore her apart verbally.

And the Internet is a little safer again with another troll's **** being ruined.

Shame on you.

Could we maybe get some of those lines for Wynne too?  Like when she's being all preachy?
