Get it? lol.  Women's sex organs smell like fish.  Or dead animals.  Or something gross.

Mmm...smells like misogyny.

I'm pretty sure I'm not being a hardline feminist here saying this line is specifically expressing hatred for women's genitals.  It's not like I don't call crap when people say "lolol the penis is so ugly" (especially "lolol the uncircumsized penis is so ugly") and happily support the artists I know actively working to take the perception of obscenity from male nudes in art andthe  American media.  However, Dragon Age in particular doesn't have a throwaway line (that I know of) describing men's sex organs as an object for disgust.

no not really,
I take as it alludes to her stinking as a person and not her lack of personal hygienne

however It sounds to me that you are giving us a the good old  10:50 pub line "OI, Geezer you split my pint" in the traditional English night out,( a curry, 10 pints and a fight.).

There is really better fight to take for the much needed improvement of the women conditions in the occident let alone in the world.

Don’t take it the wrong way but I teach self defence to women and that type of comment, and the pseudo egalitarian feminism that it heralds, is really a big bugbear of mine when you teach women to be proactive about self defence.

When I advise not to take unnecessary risk, there is always one numbskull to say that as a woman it is you right to go where you like dress how you like.
Yes it a right as it is my flipping right as a man to go to a black panthers meeting with a KKK outfit.

Don’t worry the other gender numbskulls, usually come up with men are not all rapist.
No but like horse there is only a very small % that kicks, and that is why you either pass very close to the horse arnse or out range, just in very unlikely case the donkey you are dealing with is part of that very small %.

Not only it detract from the fact that it does make sense to listen to you instinct and to pack some place else if you have a bad felling about a parking lot, taking a dark alley at 11:30 at night because it is a short cut to the car or to get isolated by a acquaintance during a party.
But on top of that it bloody makes you feel bad about making that type of decision.

And the main part of self defence pro-activity is you felling good about a de-escalation or potential danger avoidance.
It is the same for men and women, though typically there is difference as to what each gender has problem to feel good about.

God but I hate this store.
  • Being in Vegas--Awesome!
  • Shopping with the girlie--Sure, great.  She gets to look at all the absurdly expensive stuff she wants, and we buy a bit.
  • The girlfriend using my big hairy biker mug to test makeup in the middle of Sephora--a humbling experience.

You're a line short of a mastercard commercial

Yep. Clearly, Ariella, you are also a woman-hater. Care to join the Traitors To Our Sex ™ club? Club membership gives you discounts at Wifebeaters "R" Us, Barefoot 'n Preggers and Sephora.

Sure thing... I love Sephora. Wait, did Urban Decay supply the makeup for Dragon Age? :o

Professional victims must always be perpetually victimized, else they become responsible for their own well being.

If this game does nothing else it reinforces the fact that not everyone is equal. Everyone considers someone to be less than themselves in some way. No law, edict or personal "epiphany" will ever change that, any more than whining, crying and sling snot on a message board will.
Some people need to change their stinky drawers and move on so the rest of us are not offended by their offensive habit of being perpetually offended.

On the whole DAO has typical Tolkien-derived racism where instead of having a diversity of skin tone you have elves, dwarves and humans.  Pretty, fey Caucasians, stocky, burly Caucasians, and more or less average looking Caucasians.  Is it unique to DAO?  No.  Creating a diverse world of different looking white people is stock and trade for European fantasy.

You just backed up my point. Some people made a big deal about it and made it more than it really was and you can dismiss it and see it for what it really is (no big deal).

But here you are making a big deal about sexism and made it more than it really was and others can dismiss it and see it for what it really is (no big deal).

There is always someone who will get offended about anything.

There's multiple pokes taken at Alistair in DA, that boil down to him stink like a dog. Going on the same hyperbole you've just used here, this is clearly intended to propagate a hateful view that not even their sex organs in particular but men on the whole are disgusting creatures.

But somehow since it's aimed at a man, it goes unnoticed on your radar. Funny, that.

Lol, I can say this being a man, but I think a lot of people would actually agree with that hehe. Its obvious from the lack of things the op has said, and what the op actually 'has' said, that there has been a distressing time during their life, probably involving a man, and they are venting.

I always thought this would mean Morrigan... you  know ... doesn´t take off her underwear before ... going to the .... lavatory. If you know what I mean. Like.. what goes into pampers.

Can we change topic?
It´s a little gross.

And btw, there are lines against men. For example, when Alistair tells you he is still a virgin you can say he lacks the proper parts. And if he refuses to sleep with you (as female PC) you can say that he is not enough of a man.
And Oghren talks about Do-it-yourself. Several times.

nah, the neutered US version of the Witcher is just about bearable there. If she ever gets hold of one of the books, though...
Darkness will fill the night sky, as mountains crumble. Rivers of blood will boil over into adjacent rivers of fluffy bunnies, and the Caucasian elves, and disgusting men, with their misogyny and stinky genitals, will weep, as
the whole internet is set alight by the indignant, fluffy wrath of... Callie! *Dun Dun DUUUUUUUN!*

I think there's a difference between just being generally crude and being gender-specific hateful.

I think everyone in the game got enough hate spread across a wide enough swath that it's hard to take it personally.

Hell, Sten will question your ability to fight on the basis of having boobs. Even that isn't hateful, it's just...well, I don't know what it is, but I consider it ignorance of different cultures.

I think the line that gave me the biggest chill was during the city elf beginning my husband was playing. Guards standing over an unconscious or dead woman with one of them saying "Well, just how picky are you?" or something like that. Yeah, that's hateful. Hateful and cruel and it's directed toward women, but it's not like elven men got a pass either.

It's just hateful and cruel in general. I think the hate and prejudice is spread so thick that it's hard to take any of it personally or think it's directed toward a certain audience as a "game policy" so much as...it's just a game where people are given the opportunity to experience and say hateful and cruel things, but we also get the chance to say good and loving things.

Maybe men are? Some men at least. Fascists, for example. Rapists. People who hurt or even kill children.
(Not that women doing that would be better, though.)

Some men.  Some women.  But it's not a gender-defined characteristic.

Women are equally scary and potentially cruel.

Most women murderers aren't caught because they tend to kill loved ones through poisoning and get away with it.  Or they're angels fo death that wipe out hospital wings with "mercy killings"

The main benefit to male serial killers is that they're arrogant enough to send the cops a letter that taunts the cops about how much they can't catch him, until the letter gets them caught.

Female murderers are rarely suspected and get away with it because they don't advertise.

Better?  Well...no...not exactly.
