I think the line that gave me the biggest chill was during the city elf beginning my husband was playing. Guards standing over an unconscious or dead woman with one of them saying "Well, just how picky are you?" or something like that. Yeah, that's hateful. Hateful and cruel and it's directed toward women, but it's not like elven men got a pass either.

It was just one of many ways Bioware used (with success, I think) to make you really, really ENJOY killing Vaughan and his perverted guards.
Actually, I have NEVER, in any game I ever played, so much enjoyed killing someone as I did with Vaughan. Though the actual fight was rather boring.

Lamp post anyone?

To totally change the topic, does Alistair know what he's suggesting when he says, "I've never had the pleasure"??

OP Get over yourself. If this game was truly misogynistic, there would be no female PC choices and all the NPC females would be in the larder.

You should go play The Witcher- that game is more suited for you. lol

I think Howe might actually have a bit of a lead on that for my Cousland.  But Vaughan's a close second.

Maybe men are? Some men at least. Fascists, for example. Rapists. People who hurt or even kill children.
(Not that women doing that would be better, though.)

Some men.  Some women.  But it's not a gender-defined characteristic.

Women are equally scary and potentially cruel.

Most women murderers aren't caught because they tend to kill loved ones through poisoning and get away with it.  Or they're angels fo death that wipe out hospital wings with "mercy killings"

The main benefit to male serial killers is that they're arrogant enough to send the cops a letter that taunts the cops about how much they can't catch him, until the letter gets them caught.

Female murderers are rarely suspected and get away with it because they don't advertise.

Better?  Well...no...not exactly.

And where, exactly, do you say something else than whatt I said?B)

Get it? lol.  Women's sex organs smell like fish.  Or dead animals.  Or something gross.

Mmm...smells like misogyny.

I'm pretty sure I'm not being a hardline feminist here saying this line is specifically expressing hatred for women's genitals.  It's not like I don't call crap when people say "lolol the penis is so ugly" (especially "lolol the uncircumsized penis is so ugly") and happily support the artists I know actively working to take the perception of obscenity from male nudes in art andthe  American media.  However, Dragon Age in particular doesn't have a throwaway line (that I know of) describing men's sex organs as an object for disgust.

Okay Callie K, you've had your say, now get back in the kitchen and me a pie! Oh, and iron this shirt while you're at it!  Posted Image

Now was that anti-woman or just anti-Callie K?  Talk amongst yourselves! Posted Image

Yes, getting to put him down is by far one of the most satisfying game moments ever!

Oh yeah.  It was very successful.

I was on a happy ragemonkey killing spree.

Hmmm... If I were an utter bastard in real life, I'd taunt cops regularly. If I'm going to screw myself over eventually, might as well have fun along the way :)

I find it a little bit ironic that this post's attracted two people from BW. Damn straight, Callie, you're now famous.

Well, now that the OP (not that she necessarily deserves it, I'm not going to go postal on other people because of their opinions) has been beaten into submission by the collectve community, we can all laugh like idiots, and be happy :D

Posted Image  I'm already famous on the internet.  I even have a pin that says so.

Don't worry, though.  I just couldn't find an internet bingo card for sexism so I've got to make one from scratch to play along at home.

Going by the tone of his voice i've had the impression he's just trying to answer you original question which sparked that particular talk, but i don't think he realized that particular euphemism he picked to go about it could result in mental imagery that Zevran would enjoy a lot. Posted Image

Rather gratifying for the guard to say, paraphrasing, that they found Vaughan's butchered corpse at the end of a trail of blood winding through the whole estate.

Sounds good to me. But you'd need a chafed tongue injury :pinched:

Yes, makes me want to whack him on the head and say, "Hello!  Phallic symbol??  Have you heard the phrase?"

They should put in an option for male PCs to ask "Care to join me in my tent?" when he says that.  Then he can have a horrible awkward moment.

But bandaging a damaged tongue would severely limit your ability to lick lampposts :(
