In DAO, it used to be that the opponent would for example get paralysed with a paralysis spell, unless it passes a physical resistance check (which is checked against the caster's magic, i assume? ) so im wondering if this is the case in DA2, or do spells like glyph of paralysis have the same 100% (normal enemies) 75% (lieutenents) and 50% (boss) success chance?
Thanks!

Magic affects your auto attack hit % and damage. You can highlight the attack % and select it to see exactly how much.
Magic affects the force or elemental force a spell will apply to it's effects and/or damage.
All spells are automatic hits, their duration is determined by the difficulty and the force applied by your magic level.

So the more magic i have, the higher the chance that stonefist will knock someone over. Interesting. Willpower still seems rather redundant though, hah.
Magic affects the spell's success rate in DAO i assume?

In DA: O, yes you can miss with a spell.
but you also gain 1 will power and 1 con every level, you just dont see the stat rise, just the attribute, so you can just pump magic.
will power is for a support role, in DA2 if you're force/SH. Minimum used to be add 4 will power then prebuff with items to equip the higher end items, but they lowered that requirement because Blood mage was then stuck wasting useless points just for armor.
standard suggested con for BM +11 by end with just spec points and no armor for the conversion.
standard will power for a heavy user would probably be around the same considering the bonuses items give.
