Title.

I've been looking for some horror movies to watch, good ones but I can't find anything really interesting these days, it's like if good horror movies stopped in the  90's, of course there are some good ones of recent years but i don't know I just don't feel the real fear like with some old school movies, but by the way, maybe i am missing them all now :)

So BSN, which are for you the top 5 of best movies you've seen in your life?

Can be new, can be not so new, can be old school, whatever :P

I haven’t seen the new movie, but the story is good. I have the 1979 musical version with Angela Lansbury.

Audition.

If you haven't seem it or even heard of it, don't look it up, just watch it. Any information just spoils it. It's a slow burn, but totally worth it. It's usually in most top 10/20 scariest movies of all time lists.

Anything Stephen King related should be good...though some adaptations are better than others.

Christine (1983)

The Shining (1980)

Edit to add:

Not Stephen King related:

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) Note - The Glen Lantz character is played by a very young Johnny Depp.

Hellraiser was freakin' nuts when i was a kid.....literally scared the hell out of me. Anyways, my favorite horror movies are probably those that don't have a focus on blood or guts, but on atmosphere and just pure creepiness.

Sinister
The Ring
1408
House on Haunted Hill
The Eye
The Woman in Black
Alien
Sleepy Hollow

In no particular order, and lumping in thrillers with horror:

The Ring (both the Gore Vidal remake and the original Ringu)
The Thing (Kurt Russell version)
The Others
Audition
Dark Water (the Japanese version)
Ju-On
Poltergeist
Alien

The Descent
Alien
The Fly
Sinister
The Ring (2002)

These are the only ones that really creeped me out. I definitely recommend checking out the Descent. It has a great atmosphere.

Actually if you want some nice horror, go watch the show Supernatural. Normally I dislike horror, but they really did it well in that show.

Indeed.

As terror I don't mean a movie where there is a pool of blood, that's just....... a little nasty.

and that's the thing, nowadays "horror" movies are only about nasty things without a proper atmosphere and that's what I miss about horror movies.

Few movies have a proper atmosphere in these days.

Some of those can be considered comedy actually :P
We have to introduce you to the true horror movies :)

none of those ( with the exception of The Ring which is a good horror movie ) should be considered horror movies :P, mainly paranormal activity, have you seen Poltergeist or the old Nightmares on Elm Street?
