When I play the Fury or Shadow, I'm not playing a 'girl,' I'm playing a character. The gender means nothing as far as playing it goes. Ever been the dog in Monopoly?

In fact, I have my human males and females set up differently so that I have two characters with the same powers but with different setups and load-outs. My manguard has double nova with a wraith, my femguard has single nova with a harrier... stuff like that. Works like a charm.

Now that I think of it, I vastly prefer playing femshep in single player. The voice actor is much better at delivering some semblance of subtle context. The male voice actor is kinda boring and blah. So, I guess gender does make something of a difference.

while it doesnt hold true to this game, female characters are generally more agile and dextrous while males are stronger and tankier....

i think for most it derives from those basic principles.

You win the internet!

And to answer the OP; no, of course it's not weird. I tend to prefer female characters in video games when given the option.

I don't see why it would be weird.

Just about as 'weird' as staring at members of the opposite sex IRL. i.e. normal and healthy sexual interest (or members of the same-sex if you swing that way).

Sometimes you want to come home and see an Asari or Krogan kick some ass. Other days you want to play as something just to stare at their ass.

I like tough chicks, but I make no real preference. In the end it comes down to which one has the build I use, and which one is the experimental one. I.E. when I was new at this, my female was novaguard, but my male was a classic weaponsguard.

Sometimes it seems weird, but then I consider that girls have been playing predominantly as males for decades. Playing even a vanilla female human isn't so weird, then, just a good way to mix things up a tad.

Has BioWare confirmed that females actually have smaller hitboxes?

Just because the model is smaller doesn't mean the hitbox is.

I like to play as female characters when given a choice, but other than that I don't care. My first run through of each Mass Effect was with FemShep, followed by MaleShep douchebag mode.

yeah you would.

It makes absolutely no difference to me, I do not project the characters as a representation of myself, they are tools I am using to complete a task.

Why do boys play as girls? ... all the answers can be found in the "Jiggly Quarian Bumbums" thread of yesteryear.

...love tough chicks, playing all my games with fem chars if availible, tho in ME trilogy I played like half/half just to see different stuff that each of it brings with it...

@Astronaughte ....really? You're playing a game in wich chars can be very "liberal" about their sex preferences, you kill stuff, sometimes torture ppl, damn, you can commite genocide and then that's ok? But, playing with oposite sex char is disgustig? LoL, now that's weird...

Can anybody propose any reasons why it would be weird to play as the opposite sex? None come to mind.

I leave this website for one day. One day.

Anyway, I have different builds for both genders (both are as effective as each other for the most part, although I hate my Human Male Engineer, he's an idiot). At the end of the day they're people, fictional people at that (that kick ass I might mention). I shouldn't feel weird for playing as a person.

Has it been weird playing as male, its a game.
if i suddenly went shopping in fake N7 armour, that would be weird!

For me it's about specific powers/bonuses a character has. Overall, the females cause lots of destruction & mayhem. Just like in real life..

If they game i am playing is in 3rd person view i always go with female characters, cause if i am going to have a butt moving on my screen for hours on end i prefer it to be a nice one. In any other game i dont think about it

they don't block my screen as much

This is the reason. I'll always play the default human females, female aliens and non imposing male characters e.g. Drell
