I prefer to play as females.
I'd rather stare at a womans ass in front of me.
+1

Yes, they are actually. Play the ****ing games bro. I never said they were all like shep, but they all get implants as part of joining up. I mean, I can't really blame you for not talking to Ash or Vega, who both mention it, but at least read the codex.
Kaidan too I think. it was probably mentioned in ME1 by Chakwas.

It's role playing.
Why weird to play female but not weird to play a Volus or Krogan?
In Single Player I play play exclusively female because the character is just more interesting and frankly whose backside would you rather have on screen for 200hrs (cough)...
In multiplayer, I play all classes and races, but do prefer the Krogan and Asari most of all.
it would be a bit weird to exclude specific classes - such a 'I won't play females' - that would be very odd...

I usually got to female characters for the smaller hit box.

Kaiden has implants...hes a biotic.
Everyone else gets gene therapy for strength and stamina and fixing genetic anomalies. Nothing to drastic, just helps them do their jobs better doesn't really fix the main proplem of front line combat which is why we still don't see female frontliners all that often in ME.

But lets be honest. Most character designs (in just about every game), both male and female, emphasis sex appeal and exaggerate various masculine and feminine characteristics. So its no surprise that some males will always want to play as a female character, simply for the inherent eye-candy and sex appeal that comes with it. But its also no surprise that some males are insecure about their own masculinity, so playing as a female threatens their own self image, and therefore gravitate to male characters. There are some people who are also homophobic, and thus gravitate to the opposite sex.

However, that doesn't stop me from playing characters where I don't have a choice, like the Shadow or Asari. I also prefer the female Quarians to the male ones.

I played through the first two times as a male character.
The third time, I played a female, and realized a couple of things.
I realized that in RPG games, there are many dialogue options and story elements that are gender-specific, and I find the female ones tend to be more interesting to me (Fallout 2 really reinforced that).
I also realized that if I'm going to spend a significant amount of time looking at a character's butt in third person, it might as well be an attractive one.
And... have you seen the Shadow?

If I limited myself to only male characters then I'm not getting the most out of my purchase.
And I paid too much money to not get the most out of this.

From a hit box perspective, I probably should play the female version of the basic human characters. Have not done that to date, but makes sense.
My favorite character is the AJ, followed by the Valyrie, then the Fury. After that it is a mix of male and female characters, plus Geth. Don't know why I would ever want to limit myself by sticking with male characters.
Plus, it's a game, my d!ck doesn't fall off when I roll out my AJ. Sadly, I don't grow a quad when I'm playing a Krogan.

Man authors write woman character and woman authors write man characters. Woman actors can play man roles and man actors can play woman roles. It's not weird.

Ironically enough, Mark Meer's delivery of every one of those lines was better than Jennifer Hale's. Hale almost won with the "sad losers" speech, but completely wrecked it with the way she said "not" in that tone that made it sound like it was dubbed later with a faulty Vocaloid.Zurdo99 wrote...
in SP male voice acting is very annoying, stupid. Doesn't really feel like acted with passion compared to female sheppy.. well this have good examples;
So, yeah. I play maleshep most of the time because his VA and romances are better, not because I'm a guy. As for other characters, I keep a nice, fair spread of males and females - two male only, two female only, two both on the Alliance front. (And not just because BioWare haven't opened up the Battlefield 3 FemSol or the Infiltrators) Why? Because I can, not because I feel obligated to through feminist BS. Also because only one of the characters in my roster is supposed to be me, and it's not any one of my Shepards.
