Lol at someone taking me seriously. Quick, ignite the righteous quarian RAEG

Oh, you'd be surprised at the stupid things I've seen people write in complete seriousness. Can't be too careful. :police:

Yeah, why did the geth do that? We could have made them cannon fodder. Or extra food.

Insufficient meat on those metal bones and the meat that is there is a little too gamy to eat.

Hmm, we could stick them in giant slingshots and hurl them at our opponents. Their suits would be kinda hard and pointy.

The ultimate troll would be for Xen to try to take control of the Reapers. I figure her suit would have an insulating effect.

Ahaha I understand. Can't say how many times people have read things wrong since words aren't too good at portraying tone.

There was a cut sidequest with Xen trying to get control of the geth if you got peace on the Citadel- apparent she goes full loony and you would've shot her in the end though. I think it was in the early script or something? Anyone got a clue?

Yeah, there was - and Xen's death was one possible outcome. It's why she's listed as a separate war asset - it was originally possible for her to be "removed" later on.

Apparently she remained suspicious of the Geth after peace, suggesting the Geth might do to the Quarians what the Zha'til did to the Zha. If the Geth were dead, she was working with their components. She was doing some sort of experiment, Overlord-style, which produced a virus which can successfully kill Reapers. The ethics of her experiments were what was at issue. Beyond that, I don't know much in the way of details.

That sounds exactally like what was foreshadowed in ME2.
Why was it cut?

It not like they could fight back being such on said glass canon. Once the heavy fleet was gone there were no reason to kill the children and hunt down every last quarian survivor.  It was hypocritcal of the geth to say " we regret the death of the creators" when clearly they could have spared some.

Yeah, and the last time that they did that resulted in the need to kill them all now. Vicious cycles anyone?

True.

Personally, killing off any of the two races is evil.

But then all the endings including my favorite one (destroy) is evil. So....

Evil is a relative term, especially when it comes to robots. To me, the situation reminds me very much of Palestine and Israel. There are also some parallels between the Quarians and the Jews. Did David Gaider write the very and Quarians, or was it someone else?

Liara states the the Quarians are extinct (Or have such little population that the will die out at the end of the generation.)

So what about the ones in the life pods?

They either hacked them to ensure that they would jam, stopping ANYONE from getting off the ship.

Or, they hunted down the landing zones, dragged them out, lined them up against the wall and shot them.

Both possibilites make me have absolutely no problem with killing the Geth, either on Rannoch or the Destroy ending.

Lets look at what we know;

- Quarians use salavaged (sometimes ancient) pieces of crap for ships.
- Assuming they still have life pods given ships; age, alterations, converted spaces, disused or broken parts.
- They attached weapons to every single ship in the fleet, even live ships with their civilians.
- Gerrel makes sure that every ship must join the assault or face loss.
- They live on these ships and would sooner die with them than abandon.
- Geth don't understand the distinction between a ship and the crew, hostile ship = dead ship.
- All Geth are civilians.
- There are only 17 million quarians - even with a few thousand survivors from this number, they may not recover.

It always comes back to the quarians own mistakes, now this doesn't justify their extinction, but it also doesn't put forward a very promising argument for supporting these **** ups.

I can answer you both at the same time.

Platform is the body, Geth do not require bodies. Most Geth were created as cheap Labour units - a labourer is a non-combatent.

Same as OP's argument that there are civilians aboard the weaponised live ships. Geth drive platforms, but themselves are beings of electricity and data.

I'd say they were more like the Palestinians in that they are displaced and wanting to take on a more powerfull military force. With the risks that entail.

I'll still say it boils down to that it doesn't matter if the tank/weaponized hot air balloon is full of babies, rainbows and unicorns and what not. If it's shooting at you. It's self defence.

The answer is simple.

Quarian are IDIOTS

they used their life-spared time by the geth to start another pointless war after 300 years exiled

I Blame people like Han Gerrel and Daro Xen. Better if thosetwo people just disappear.

Simple

They are like Spartains, but take it further -  There litterally is no distinction between warrior and civilian in their culture.
Another clue to this is actually in that geth recording in the Geth Server mission. You see a geth picking up what looks like a Widow Sniper Rifle. This, combined with the Widow's ME2 discription of being unable to be fired by a typacal organic (without breaking their arm), has led to speculation that it was actually a quarian invention that the geth preserved, leading to the speculation that the quarians created weapons spicifically designed for geth to use.
If the quarians were building weapons for them, that couldn't be used by anyone else besides other geth, then it means that the geth were designed to take up a combat role if the situation required.

It says and war on the wiki, not the codex.

besides, rule 11.

There are plenty of other legit reasons in the list.

"Every geth platform is designed and equiped for combat." It says that in their "Geth Corps" war asset. Since all geth can interchange bodies, it's natural to assume that all geth must have data on combat functions, in order to run their bodies and defend themselves.

It's a bit contradictory. The ME3 description of the Widow says it's a Geth weapon which other species have since redesigned so it won't break the arm of anyone using it. ME2 says it's an antimateriel rifle used for fighting armored vehicles and Krogan. Were the Quarians at war with the Krogan at some point?

Also @Shisn0, what does rule 11 have to do with anything? I don't recall having impersonated a moderator.

Wrong. Labor and war. Says so in the war asset description, the in-game codex, and the datapad app right in front of me.

EDIT: Linked to the ogg audio file for the Geth codex entry on the Wikia, not sure if BSN allows the link though.
