Platinum should be less boss-spammy and have more cannon fodder.

Should have been:
Cerb: Phantom/Dragoon/Nemisis spam
Reapers: Banshee/Brute spam (and another fairly quick melee mid-tier unit (maybe Reaper versions of Volus?...special move - bowling ball) as well as  the adjutant if it is added)
Geth: **** them.  They have stun lock - that is enough
Collectors:  Collector Captain/Abomination spam

I farmed considerable amount of credits in Platinums, but I don't like it. Every unit that spawns is a damage sponge.

My regular platinum days were over as soon as I maxed my manifest.

You said it correctly the first post. 20 minute Gold = $80k credit with over 90% sucess rate. 40 Minute Plat = $120k credit with 10% chance of both the players and servers making it the whole way thru and ppl actually using equipment. Easy math.

Just play with friends and the problem is solved, many from here I am sure would run with you, we just finished five great runs 19 to 24 min, including four troopers on Glacier which was a blast:)

I'd just like to find a Platinum lobby that doesn't have at least 1 striker/arc pistol combo in it

I think there is a good number of platinum caliber players on every platform. The thing is most of them play only private matches to avoid the frustrations you mention. I'm on the PS3 and play platinum with people in my group (Alliance Hazard Force). We regularly complete plat matches in 20 to 25 minutes with minimal hitches.
What I can suggest to the OP is find excellent gold players (they are usually plat players too in my experience) and add them to your friend list. You can then invite them if you feel like playing platinum.

Yes Plat PUGs is seriously more miss than hit. Usually Plat with friends only so I can enjoy the game.

If anyone's having problems with Platinum lobbies/other Platinum players, I have a few suggestions from my experience that might help.

1)Friends/Coordination: Easiest way to get things done; Make a plan and execute it. Don't have any friends interested in ME? Come to the forum and send a shout-out. There are plenty of players looking for some good times. And don't forget to invite people to the forum; More forum-goers=more knowledgeable-players on your team... Potentially, I've seen some of your posts, there's no hope (llooll I kid).

2) Host your own lobby-or join one if you don't want to do a mini-solo while waiting for teammates to join-with a build you feel most comfortable with. This will ease the pain of less than desirable squadmates.

3) Remember to have fun. Yes we all like to win. And winning makes the game fun, but you can have fun without winning. It's not the other way around. I've had people blow me up, I've blown people up, I'll revive you on purpose to get you insta-killed, Firebase Reactor Hazard is a true come true for me, if they put friendly-fire in this game I'll be the first one to get banned for abusing it, I've let whole teams die because my authority was questioned, I've had no-meele Vorcha Boxing match with multiple Banshees while my teammates watched for 15 mins. Overall, I make it fun.

4) The last tip? Be prepared to let people die. It seems cruel, but as long as you get them credits, they're cool with it (not like they have a choice llooll).

Hopefully this helps, if nothing else garner a few chuckles. Happy Sheparding (killing anything in sight)!

Whenever I get tired of plat PUGs I host a plat game and leave it open for public. Allmost every time the game fills up till wave 5 and mostly good players too. Allso this way it seams eliminates lag/glitches for me.

Can't see how that would protect you of any bad players joining. I've seen plenty of sub N7-120 players join gold/plat games, particularly around Christmas.
Also a significant portion of players (i was one of them like 2 weeks ago) do not know that if you join and quit within the wave you join a game, you don't lose your consumables. I used to search for plat lobbies without consumables, because i'm not going to waste anything on a on-going box-of-shame game that i'm going to quit right away.

I personnally completed my manifest doing mostly pug plat games and i've done good, and still play plat pugs. I'm just selective with the lobby (no leecher allowed: i vote for kick or leave). If you're not satisfied with what you get: go back to gold, search for a Collectors game (always a challenge), then re-try plat.

Same here. I PUG 90% of the time. I used to to farm fbw/g/p when that was a thing.  After the banshee fix, ~50% of PUG games would wipe.  plat necessitates high DPS classes and reliable teammates.

On gold, i'd say nearly 90% are successful, and all classes are viable.  Teammates range from noobs (effort is there, not always skill or manifest) and leechers (die at beginning of wave, never gel) to seasoned veterans who know what's up.  Difficulty ranges from a "walk in the park" to "is this a solo?"  And since creds are no longer a concern, this is where you'll likely find me.

P.S.  I may end up back in plat  in order to complete all my silver-level challenges (you know 100 waves per map in plat and the like).  :?  We'll see.
