So something strange happened. Or didn't happen to be exact. Usually after you clear the Denerim City Gates of darkspawn you pick a party to take further into the city and all of your companions say a bit. This playthrough the latter didn't happen.
I have a few more mods installed than my previous playthroughs. At first I thought the Roland-mod caused the issue, since he butts in right after you pick the commander to defend the gates. So I de-activated that mod, and most other 3rd party ones, then force-loaded, but the usual scene still doesn't happen.
Does this happen to other people? Are there other things I could try?
Bug? No "touching speeches" at the Denerim City Gates

I've never had an issue with the Roland mod causing this. But it does sound like you may have a mod conflict somewhere. Do you have more than one dialogue patch altering companion dialogues? Some of them don't play well with others.

It wouldn't be caused by conflicting party_events.dlg files. Only one triggers if you have more than one in there. If various bug fixes rely on flags being set in other files, you may end up with some bugs not being fixed if the wrong party_events triggers, but it wouldn't cause that scene not to trigger.
However, this seems to happen to some people when they have CCC installed. I'm not sure that just uninstalling it is enough or if you have to go back a bit.

I hope this is not a stupid question, but what is CCC?
As far as dialogue goes I have only a Morrigan-fix installed I think. I tried temporarily renaming the override folder so that would be all clear and turned off everything except the official mods, but that didn't work either. I haven't tried this on a fresh game though.

It's not a stupid question at all -- it's a mod support I guess is the best way to put it. It stands for Companion Compatibility Core and I've heard about people with that installed having problems at the Denerim gates. Did you by chance ever have Ser Gilmore NPC installed (I'm assuming yes from your initial post)? If so, that may be where you picked up CCC -- look for a DAZip named cc_core(some version number).dazip. If it's there, remove it entirely (not just uncheck it).
You may have to go back a ways if it's caused by this.
Edit: If you were using both Ser Gilmore NPC and Morrigan Restoration Patch Fix Pack at the same time, you would have a conflict UNLESS using the compatibility pack which actually is found on ZDF's page (I know, confusing, but the link is in my sig -- just removing party_events.dlg/dlb from MRP may be enough, but I don't know for sure, and if you've already removed SGNPC, then leave the file in MRP alone). But CCC has caused this issue with other people so I would look at that first. If it were only a conflcit between MRP and SG, the gates dialog would still trigger, but whether Ser Gilmore appeared would depend on whose .dlg actually triggered.

Thanks ejoslin, I totally forgot that was a component of Gilmore. I have tried to disable that as well, but it doesn't work either. Where are the .dazip stored after being imported by DAUpdater?
An extra issue has presented itself which may or may not be related. After slaying the archdemon, having the post-battle chats in the throne room (no issue there) I go out to the balcony..... and get the credits, instead of the epilogue.

In the addins folder I think? You probably could search your computer for it. But I'm not sure how far back you would need to go in order for things to run properly. It stands to reason once it's gone, it's gone, but last person I talked to who had this issue needed to go back a bit to get things to start triggering properly (I don't know how far -- since it's not my mod I really can't offer support for it).
The epilogue not triggering is probably due to the same thing. Sorry it's not better news.

I found the files in the addins folder. Deleted Gilmore and his CCC, and disabled every third party dlc in the game (except Phoenix Armory, my warden was wearing that...). Force-loaded a save from before heading off to Redcliffe to start the final questline, then made a 'fresh save'. Re-started DAO, loaded that game and played normally.
Sigh, still no speeches at the gates, and no epilogue either...

Out of curiosity, did you have Ser Gilmore NPC running in this particular play through? If so, here's something you could try, though I make ZERO guarantees on it (no clue whether it will work or not as I have no clue how CCC works) and I'm not sure you want to spend a lot of time on this.
ANYWAY, you could try re-enabling SG or if you don't want to do that, download the compatibility pack and put them in the override folder as described in the readme. But make sure you don't reinstall CCC. I don't think SG actually needs it to run.
