And so the speculations must go on

Keeping everyone happy is a false premise. What they need to do is not make something where over 90% of the fans disapprove of their story then when they "fix it" the best they get is "well it's okay now." Bioware needs to shoot for making Mass Effect the type of trail blazing project the series was up through the last 15 minutes of ME3.

Otherwise studio execs are bound to allocate resources towards more churn and burn COD style games, especially considering decision makers at big companies are usually more risk averse. If they can't see the potential for Mass Effect like projects then those type of games won't get green lit.

Ok, there is NO way we would do that becuase it is among the cheesiest McGuffin around

True.  And yet it's still far more intelligent and respectful to its audience as an ending than the one you gave us for Mass Effect 3.

Has Bioware learned nothing from the Tortanic? No..just no. keep it SP I'll even take tact on Horde mode just please...I've already lost The Elders Scrolls. Not Mass effect as well...:crying:

In no way are The Elder Scrolls lost. The online thing matters not.

I see Mr. Priestly is back. So, how about answering that question a couple of pages back?

If Warcraft has showed anything once you go MMO the original game fades away.

That's Blizzard. Zenimax have a seperate studio working on the online project, Bethesda Game Studios are still fully intact and doing what they do best.

People love the single-player games, Skyrim sold 14 million. There's no way in hell they would drop the franchise.

MMOs people.

This is where the $$$ is.

I predict that the next ME game will be a MMORPG.

This way, the game is not a midquel, a sequel, nor a prequel.

You are just an Asari/ Batarian / Human / Drell / Geth / Krogan / Quarian / Salarian / Turian / Vorcha, trying to survive in the Galaxy.

This is actually what I'm expecting, I just hate the idea so much I didn't want to say it.

Ok, there is NO way we would do that becuase it is among the cheesiest McGuffin around, but it is an example of what can be done. I can't say the more "real" possibilities because I may accidentally mention what may really happen. I'm just saying that people who think it MUST be X or XY are really limiting their vision.

and that IS a way to deal with the ending, you made them meaningless by erasing them

my point stands....

Right. But by that same token, and as you point out, just because it doesn't have to be X or Y or XY doesn't mean making it A or B is a good idea.

So... we'll see, I guess.

I don't know, I think a Mass Effect MMO could be cool.

But at the same time... I like my singleplayer experience, too. And if they did do an MMO, I feel like the only way they could do it with the current variables is to set it really far in the future and just gloss over everything. I don't want that.

I want the consequences of the first trilogy to stand.

I think that's what a lot of people said before TOR.

I'm just not a big fan of MMOs, when I play MP I want something simple like Halo or ME3.

Dear God, as long as it's not some kind of "what if this had happened" crap for the next game. The more Bioware answers speculations on Mass Effect 4, the more uneasy I feel.  :crying:

I call it we discover that IT is right and ME4 is the continuation of the war with reapers..... :P everyone is happy....

(well aside from controllers and synthetizers that did the wrong decision so when the will import the save file into the game they will see after some seconds husk-shepard getting shot down by an Alliance soldier and a critical mission failure screen)

Next Mass Effect game will be set in a post-synthesis dystopia.

If they turn it into another MMORPG...they're going to lose my money...

But I seriously doubt this would happen...they know how "well" this worked out for KotOR

Personally, I like TOR well enough, and if they did a Mass Effect MMO they'd be working knowing what mistakes they made with TOR which means it'd probably be a better product.

But yeah. I'd rather they kept the experience more or less what it is now, with some tweaks.

I haven't read the entire thread so I apologize if this possibility has already been put forth:

The next ME game is a reboot, a la J.J. Abrams' Star Trek.

I don't see how it could be a reboot. They explicitely said no more Shepard. A reboot... would kind of have to have a Commander Shepard.

About a ME:MMO, EA might be the incarnation of the devil in the eyes of the gaming community however they are not fools. EA will NEVER fund another Bioware MMO, look at what happened to SWTOR
