Not necessarily, the epilogue slide for the best friend outcome states that she's in the order for decades.twincast wrote...
Hate to break it to you, but by the time of the game she is most likely dead.
If you part ways with her after Kal Hirol it states that "Many years later, a group of Grey Wardens battling in the roads recounted of a perky little dwarf fighting alone and mumbling of her death."

But honestly, any female dwarf companion/LI would be fine with me at this point. (Dagna would be awesome as well.)

Oh god Dagna was adorable. If not Sigrun then Dagna would definately make a good female dwarf LI too, although I have no idea how she'd work as a party member. She's really into magic, but as a dwarf, she can't actually use it. Maybe she could function as a merchant who sells magical items and potions at wherever your base is?

I could've swore that in those epilogue slides it mentions that she returned to the Deep Roads, implying that she died. Don't get me wrong it's been quite a while since I've played Awakening, so I could definately be wrong about that. But I thought that was true.

Dagna would be great as a companion in DA:I, as long as they keep her personality intact.
How would she do battle?

BW staffer 1: The fans want Schmooples back.
BW staffer 2: Really? Didn't we develop Schmooples as much as we wanted back in DAO?
BW1: Sure, but there's a lot of buzz about him on the BSN
BW2: Let's see, what if we welded him to a Desire Demon and then turned them both into a Broodmother?
BW1: That's sounds awesome. Let's run it by a producer.
*A few moments later*
BW Producer: Make it so!
And so Schmooples returns as a fanservice character in DA:I

She wrote that book about " comprehensive theory of how lyrium vapors relate to the supply of magic". She could make enemies read it and bore them to death.
Or throw it at them.

Maybe her study of lyrium and magics and whatnot made her develop some kinds of magic weapons that can be used by anybody...exploding sacks of lyrium, magic traps, throwing knives that always find their target...etc.
Point is, I could see her as a type of rogue that utilizes her own magic inventions.

Plus, considering DA2 flagged that anyone not in your parry at the end of Awakenings is dead she couldn't be a party member cause some people wouldn't have her. Yeah, I know ME did it, but that was your choice, this is due to a game bug.

Well if you want to think about it in a way that could make sense and could possibly work, then sure. I guess

If Dagna were in DA:I, I'd rather she not be an active party member. Make her more like Bohdan/Tranyer/Kelly - an NPC that you develop a relationship with and who aids you but stays at the base.
Agreed Dagna is a research scientist or a librarian. She would be more like Q from James Bond, everyone once in a while when you come back from adventures, or finish her quests that help her with studies, she would give you a holy hand grenade or a blue print for a gem of fiery destruction to add to your favorite swords. She would never be part of your group unless a special one time story quest.
As for Sigrun, she is one of my favorite characters ever, I'd love to continue her friendship with my Warden, but I cannot imagine why she would ever be in DA3. I wouldn't mind a cameo, she is an interesting character.

I'd love to have her back and in an LI capacity. However, I will settle for a female dwarf LI who isn't Sigrun.
My thoughts as well.
