The endings are pretty vague and subject to interpretation. If you see gloom and doom, that's your prerogative.

Different long-term possibilities for the long-term implications of a given scenario don't have equal probability. Example: Let a criminal go free who's been let free many times in the past only to reoffend. He may or may not this time but the odds are that he will. You appear to be saying that that doom and gloom is my perogative, in your headcanon he becomes a reformed character.

A lot of people pick Destroy out of bitterness and seek validation by trying to make anyone else who is happy with their ending as miserable as they are.

I'm assuming you see yourself as their antithesis?

That would be hilarious, seeing as Eterna5's posts always ooze bitterness and bile.

She's toxic, man.

My blood is Acid.

Haven't seen the Angryone in a while? Of course you haven't, because I devoured her

I wouldn't say it is either omnipotent, or has absolute power. I will grant zombie slaves. MECHAZOMBIES. Which are clearly 90% glowier than the regular sort.

It is if you are arrogant in doing so.

In the span of two posts you have managed to establish: (1) disdain for opposing opinions, (2) making assumptions of others' character, (3) moral self-righteousness ("at least I'm not as monstrous as those people!"). If that's not arrogance, then I'm a teddy bear.

But don't let me discourage you. Display it loudly and proudly.

If the Catalyst doesn't constitute this, I would hate to see what you consider befitting of these terms...

Well in reality, where you currently are right now, you act like a pompus douche. And I myself value how people act in the real world much more than judgeing what they do in a video game.

Actually being omnipotent or having absolute power?

Sorry, that was a bit snarky. I will say that a hero ascending through sacrifice is a common theme I'm rather fond of, though I tend to prefer the sturm and drang of "The name lives on, the man lies dead, and in the end, even the name will be forgotten" ascension into legend rather than a more literal ascension into something new.

Because we have logical thinking and we think about the long term problems (Shepard going insane in Control, merging organics and synthetics together causing obvious problems.)

That is why.

Well, yeah. Though I don't think your criminal is a perfect analogy to the Reaper situation, I am saying that your read on it and how the story ends is viable. And so's mine.

Sure, it's not perfect, no analogy ever is. I usually try to find unarguably clear ones to illustrate the principle with less ambiguity than is present in the real discussion (or to simply find a currently less controversial way of illustrating it). The point is that whilst both are viable which is more likely? I feel that some Control supporters don't see it as the gamble it is, and one that I've not heard anything to convince me isn't a very long shot.
