If DA3:I is going to be a next-gen title, how will Bioware handle the save imports (assuming the game supports such) from the current gen?  Has there been any discussion on this at all?

Good question. Infact, this question leads me to believe that it's going to be a current-generation title with a possible port to next-gen systems.

There has been discussion, but not with the public.

The current speculation is that they will ditch the file format and go for a checklist to set up the next game.

I suppose that pragmatism rules in this regard.  I've been noticing that I can save my games to the cloud whenever I boot up my Xbox, and so I thought maybe you could import your DA:O/A/2 saves via that medium.

I guess I like the import system, because it gives me a sense of ownership and "carryover" to the decisions I've made playing the games.  I've yet to play DA2, but I really enjoyed DA:O, and have every plan to finish the sequel in time for this fall (especially if DA3:I has multiplayer a-la ME3).

I've been wondering this too. However I doubt they'll just ditch it considering the ME3 fiasco Bioware really doesn't need another "your choices don't matter!". My guess? Cloud or checklist with the biggest decisions

Checklist seems most reasonable to me. Next-gen title is unlikely in my opinion but that's a different topic altogether.

That'd be all right with me.  I'd only get a new console to play a new Bioware game, anyway, or Halo 5.  Which is still a ways off, I guess.

Well I assume that they might utilize a cloud save system like they use on xbox360. Cloud storage doesn't save in your console but it saves in servers online so I could see that being used to import saves. But who knows, as far as I know the whole next-gen thing is just a rumor.

All of the multiplayer stuff is on the cloud/EA servers, right?  I'd love to see some cache carry over to the rumored DA3:I multiplayer from the hours I've invested in ME3!

Im not sure, it should be able to, worked for me on Asassins Creed multiplayer but that might only be because of ubisoft's own Uplay, so far all I know is that it saves your single player stuff to the servers.
