Why?  The river you have been crying over the last year has flooded over.

Though I totally agree with your thinking, we would be better off without ME3 :)

Just a little note that goes against the first ME: the existence of the Catalyst. The Citadel is part of the Catalyst, yet the starchild were unable to sense/know that Protheans placed a small mass relay WITHIN the Citadel and they even USED it, then they corrupted the signals of the Keepers, those Keepers who's probably CONNECTED to the Citadel.

So no. Yet ME2 has little impact in the main story, it has some really brilliant hintings about what is awaiting us. It's a shame Bioware were unable to deliver it to us and all we got was an artistic integrity...

I'm really short-sighted so that's probably why I'm having trouble seeing brilliance hinted at in ME2.
(Through not even ME1 was brilliant. It was solid, adequate. Nothing more.)

If that's true then maybe you should stop floundering in its depths like a rodent caught in the torrent and go away, save the rest of the forum from having to endure the relentless irony in your posts.

I've seen this topic around for the last few days and I was debating with myself on whether I should add my two cents to this topic or not.

For the record ME2 is my favourite game in the trilogy, it is also the only ME game that I can say that I 100% like.

Having said that I'm going to say that the ME Trilogy would be better off if ME2 did not exist. I get that Bioware had to make ME1 a stand alone game because they did not know if were going to get a chance to make the other ME games, they did not know if enough people would invest in the franchise to get it off the ground but ME2 and ME3 should have been created together, they should have fit together and complimented one another, instead ME2 went off and did it's own thing without furthering the Reaper threat storyline and ME3 takes everything that was worthwhile in ME2 and throws it out the window making ME2 completely irrelevent. I have always argued that ME2 should have never have been called ME2, it is ME side story.

Edit:
I forgot to add that the only thing ME2 existence contributes to ME3 is highlight ME3's short comings and Bioware's failure to plan out there **** in advance. ME2's existance makes ME3 an even ****tier game than it already is without it.

By his behavior you'd guess that dorktainian is 14 years old. But he's actually 44 years old. Who would have guessed that?

I know sniping at each other is fun (okay, it's more than fun), but let's try to avoid getting this topic locked when we are finally getting down to the important stuff.

Like why Fornax was ignored in ME3 after getting such great foreshadowing of its importance in ME2

Guys...play nice...this is an interesting topic and could do without the harshness and toxicity.

Anyways, Mass Effect 2 would be my favourite game of the series, but the endless scanning served little more than to annoy me, and it felt like the mother of all sideplots, however, the way that the events unfolded in ME3, made fair use of what happened in ME2.

I think the trilogy is indeed better with the inclusion of ME2.

If ME 2 never existed, I would say the trilogy would be better of ... BUT because ME 2 DOES exist, I would say make the Main plot of ME 2 a big side quest and make the new main plot of ME 2 how the crew is searching for clues about how to stop the Reapers and finding hint for the crucible. Then you could start ME 3 with a short Prolog Court chapter on earth to show us a litte bit of the future earth. Then proceed like in ME 3 and screw the original ending and do at least the following:

- delete the damn space kid
- let the game officially end after the scene with Andersen
- take that damn EMS out of the game and let OUR decisions through out the TRILOGY decide, if the Crucible grills
the whole Galaxy or all technic or all synthertic life or just the Reapers.

I don´t even wanted to know their secret, because they look so pathetic because of it. And give us some god damn Vehicle Missions with a better Mako ... or I would even take the damn M-44 Hammerhead.
