I'm fine with microtransactions in the single-player experience as long as they are cosmetic. For instance a good microtransction would be one that adds bowstrings to the game, it's nice and doesn't unbalance the gameplay.

I disregarded Mass Effect 3's multiplayer. It was extremely repetitive.
I decided not to purchase Dead Space 3 because of the microtransactions.

If Dragon Age 3 has microtransactions in there all I can say is CUPCAKES Round 2!!!

Unless the microtransactions plow me over big time when playing DS3, maybe...

Any hope of Bioware being awesome like Gearbox or Bethesda has diminished significantly.

Gearbox offers their content very simple. Borderlands 2 has 4 expansions. Skyrim has around 3 expansions so far. It's kept minimal, one single large payment, fans feel satisfied with content amount and is worth the price of admission. The way EA is handling it just makes gamers feel bad. They release packs, consumers are confused whether if it will impact the game in which it makes it easier. Packs feel tacked on and not integrated or woven with the actual game. Hence gamers can see the effort put. Lazy effort made to extort gamers, especially gamers that are completionist. Micro-transactions makes really hard difficulty brought down to easy with a simple transaction.

Imagine if Dark Souls for example came with micro transactions. Fans will hate the developer and the publisher which is what is currently happening. Everyone jumps on the hate wagon for a reason.

Uhm, Gearbox released 15 (!) skin/head packs for Borderlands 2 just today, .99 cent per piece. In my view this is the very definition of microtransactions.

However, I don't mind them, at all. Why should I? The Season Pass covers the "meaty" content, everything else is pure cosmetic fluff.

No hate. I think EA is doing just fine. Look at BF3 - they sold it 2 times and in some cases 2.5 times to many, many, many users. Hell 98% of my kills are premium users. Nobody is forcing you to buy anything. And honestly i think EA using this business model just perfectly. You can't even say that it is a "pay to win" situation.

Quality of content offered to us is another topic.

Not in the single player anyway, since that's what matters and is what I'm paying money for in the first place.

MP is just a silly bit of fun, so I don't care if they do what they did in ME3 - in fact, if it can make itself self financing then it should draw less resources away from what matters.

Multiplayer is partially why there was so much autodialogue, why there were so few fleshed out sidequests, and why choices didn't matter.

Down with microtransactions

Actually EA has spoken on why they use microtransactions in their games

Did they really need to speak abot it, we all know about EA's greed.
In the history of gaming microtransactions is the biggest con to have ever happened to it, how long before we are paying for bullets?

I laugh at people who thinks ME3's MP DLC is free.

You mean the company with a digital distribution service, otherwise known as a CASH COW?

Titled "good ole games," they no longer sell only old games. You know why? Money.

CDPR is just as dirty as the rest. Just in different ways.

Yeah, and he's full of ****. The day they start charging for bullets in their shooter games is the day EA goes broke. People will have none of it.

thats what microtransactions will lead too, they are just easing you into the idea of them now but eventually you will have to pay for ammo. 1 bullet 1 cent.

Alright. This is going very much off-topic and becoming a hyperbolic mess. Let's pull it back to DA3.

Only time will tell also you reminded me of the Wizards first rule, which kinda works here.

If it's handled like DA2's item packs (cheap, optional, items are really good or level with player), then that's fine imo.

If it's a random system like ME3, then no thanks. I want to know what items I'm getting beforehand before I spend any money.

There is no reason why that shouldn't be in the game in the first place.

That's like the game having a hilt but you need to pay for the blade.

This one is free EA. My idea about paying for ingame character facial reconstruction will cost you!
