I have to agree with born2beagator, 5grand sounds like an overkill alright, I paid an equivalent of 800$, maybe 750$ for my rig, at it plays all the latest games on high just fine, managed to run 60 fps on Crysis 2 with HD tex pack on ultra, so I'm fine with what I got.

EDIT: And I bought it 2 years ago.

Still, 5 grand for a computer? I am studying to be an Elementary teacher right now.  That kind of frivolous spending has never and will never be available to me.

For sure. As I said people do what they want with their cash and someone has more of it for spending than others.

Well
others have more money to spend than others. Some people find things
like better PC to be worth the investment, others find that to be food
or maybe the other neccesities.

this made my night. i
laughed hard when i read this. i make enough to afford more on it, we
are saving to build a house so i can only spend 200 a month on me

Wait, did I say something funny? :o

Which I am fine with.  Its when the people that are fortunate enough to be able to spend that kind of money start rubbing it my face that I have issues.

noone rubbed anything in your face

Whatever had enough frustration. I'm out. This is why console war threads are never a good idea.

This needs to be locked

I get paid very little for my work, I'm a nurse. I still got a lot of money saved up, because my expenses aren't that high. And my co-workers are basicaly having money issues left and right. We got the minimum salary of nurses in where I work.

I like to rub it in sometimes as a joke. But I make sure they understand I am just kidding.

This flamebait thread is a little lackluster compared to your one from earlier.

Flamebate it may be but, as someone who's played playstation since release and only switched to PC a couple years ago, I can say with certainty that PC is far better than PS3.

I don't like sitting right in front of my screen when playing.
Also a controller is much smoother and easier to handle than a keyboard.
I don't like Origin.
I don't like that I have to install all games.

Short: I would never trade my PS3 for a gaming PC.

Yeah, it does suck. If I'd to be work for the city, I'd get paid more. But too bad the city has money issues atm and I have to work for private sector (not true about private sector being somekinda messiah of workplaces with latest gadgets).

PC is playing an easier game.

Is that the thing where you run extra program's to reduce the available memory for ME3, and the AI reacts slower and is more stupid?

I would say the PC is better at almost all tasks, but until the SteamBox comes out; it's still not designed to be played on a sofa, on a TV, drink in hand.

Off topic, are we allowed "inB4s"?  Because platform wars are a sure way of getting thread locks.

That sounds like a cute idea.

I'm referring to easy reload cancels, better frame rates, fast camera response, easier aiming and recoil compensation, button mapping... It's easier for all the right reasons. If I'd built my computer 6 months earlier I would have played on PC myself.

You don't know what you're missing, it doesn't take long to get used to those things. Admittedly though, Origin does suck something serious.

the only issues i have with origin is when it wants to quit on me, but every platform does that

Well, yeah, it runs better, from what I've seen...

I love my pre-made brick, though! It has so many weird games I didn't think developers will ever make! Like a game about eating, sleeping, and mating... Okay, ME3 runs like crap on it, but whatever! I can deal with it! If my console breaks from all those freezes, though, I will be very... very... livid...

You made the mistake of passing over the 360. No Collector issues on the 360 and such a friendly

I'd also like to point out that even though I find PC better, I still kind of love my PS3. It makes a great bluray player and I still play some games on it.

AC releases late on PS3 and I have the whole series on it so I'll always get new releases for PS3. I also play the RE series on it as well as Soul Calibur/Tekken and FF 7/8.

Everything is better on PC if you have the money for a good rig.

You don't need to spend that much to get a computer that will play the upcoming video games, but ME3 is unique in that it puts a very light load on a computer.  ME4 will probably be on Frost 3, that will require a lot of folks to upgrade their machines, if they want a decent gaming experience.  By then, the new Xbox will be out, allowing both platforms to enjoy an upgraded gaming experience.  An Xbox upgrade will be cheaper than a PC upgrade.  So for many, it makes the most sense.

Don't be envious, don't let folks get your goat, just enjoy the game, on whatever platform you choose to play it on.  Most of all, have fun.

Not really true.  All you will need to upgrade is the GPU.  You can always get a GPU which can run current games smoothly for around 150-200 dollars.  Much cheaper than a new Xbox

If you are starting from a baseline of a decent, recent desktop, slap a few upgrades in and you are good to go.   If not, if you are running a laptop or an older desktop that is already running on an upgraded GPU/RAM/Sound card/processer, at some point the computer is not upgradeable.  That is where I am today.  After many, many upgrades, I must now start over.  Laptop users needing upgrades will have to start over in all but a very few cases.

So, as with everything, it depends.  I'm replacing my computer this spring, not to play today's games, but to play next year's games and the ones that come out the year after, like ME4.  From born2beagator's comments, it sounds like his best option is the console route.  Which I'm fine with, he has other things to do with his limited funds than plunk it down on a new PC, either desktop or laptop.

My sarcasm meter is off the charts. Though, I did at one point want a 360 but they charge too much.

Crysis 2 is hardly a test. The graphics in it were scaled down in a huge way to accomodate consoles.

Crysis 1 is a better way to test, ironically. ;)

But I do agree 5000 dollars for a PC is insane, nobody should pay that much. But then, people who buy prebuilts will always pay 2 - 3 x as much as they should.
