But that's precisely my point: I had to wait for the third game to come up for the first mention of males being gay or bi, ever. Meanwhile, my femShepard has been able to romance Liara, get it on with the Asari Consort, romance Kelly and flirt with Samara. And sit down to watch female strippers.
And even then, while Cortez is certainly awesome, Kaidan is only gay if you pursue the romance. I think. I don't care much for Kaidan to be honest, so I don't remember right now.
but they are there now. I just wouldn't expect them to become an even ratio due to the Asari which every example you gave except 1 uses. The developers are probably not counting each and every mention of these things, but they are there now for both sides.
Kaiden specifically mentioned wanting to be more than friends to my Shepard when I didn't say anything to him. He didn't even seem to be all that bothered by the fact that I was already with Tali.

It all comes from the same root, and that is that a race of all-female attractive aliens is a male fantasy. And I get that. Hell, if I made my own science fiction game I can't guarantee I wouldn't do the same with an all-male species. It's just that for a mainstream release, it's a really immature attitude.
Lets be honest here, had the Asari been all male, or even had they simply not existed, people would have complained that BioWare didn't give women enough of a role in the game(since most other species except Human and Quarian didn't have females in the first game, and Quarians were rare to see). Yeah a lot of male gamers find them attractive, but it's not like you wouldn't have had complaints from female gamers had they not existed or been male.
These forums already have numerous threads about evening out the ratio of male to female MP characters.

I was kinda exaggerating a bit. There are other things that irk me about how Mass Effect has grown, and I don't think it's going to get any better in the 4th. This one is not the only thing, it's just one of the most jarring in my point of view, because it's a juvenile, immature issue that drains a lot of dignity from the game.
Exaggerations aren't going to do much good as an argument, in my opinion.
The 3 ME games evolution suggests that you might get more bi/gay men, but the Asari suggest that they aren't going to match the bi/lesbian women.
I should also point out that I'd not be bothered by the addition of more for both, unless they take the DA2 route and just make everybody in the galaxy bi-sexual.

Dragon Age 2. I don't think there was one solely straight LI. Maybe Merrill, but its been awhile since I've played it.Nissun wrote...

Also, I don't think Bioware is really that avoiding of gay men in general, I mean, look at Dragon Age. Practically everyone in Thedas is bi apparently, which I honestly saw as more unrealistic as the Asari.
I'm talking about Mass Effect only. I've only played Dragon Age 1, and I think the system of "two hetero, two bi" is kind of okay. At least your Warden is allowed to be gay.
I'm not sure what you mean by "everyone on Thedas", since the only bisexual characters I know are Leliana and Zevran, but I don't want to derail this thread, so please send me a private message if you want to add something.

I actually just played through it again as a female Hawke(male Hawke voice actor bothers me) and romanced Merrill.
Every LI in DA2 is bi-sexual.

For the LAST time: I'm not asking for a 1:1 ratio, just a little less immaturity in the development of videogames. A litle less of that. A little bit more aknowledgement of the fact that men are beautiful too. Just that.

That I could see happening. 2 to 3 was an improvment overall, and it's not like everybody freaked out over it so it's possible to be added more in 4. As I said, as long as they don't go DA2 on us, I wont be personally bothered by it if it happens.

We'll see. EA announced today that they were serious about putting microtransactions in every game. It's one thing to have the really, actually, totally optional store purchases in MP. If microtrans go into the core single player experience or are effectively required to avoid grind in MP or SP, I probably won't buy. (And as with most here, I'm a core Bioware fan. They've already convinced me to never preorder again after ME3 and DAII, now they may convince me not to buy.)
Being EA I'd be slightly terrified of that statement, especially after I remember one of them making another statement about being able to pay $1 to refill your ammo in Battlefield(I think they were using it as an example, but still).
Why does that sound really similar to Thermal Clip Packs?

Critics didn't bomb the ending; fans did. If you wait for reviews, what makes you think they'll tell you whether the ending is "bad" or not?Ezmarii wrote...
I'll wait to hear the reviews. No* The ending for ME3 has ended my immediate preorder from the series. No hard feelings, it just is what it is. If there's some really rich guy reading this at EA, this is your warning as to why you'll want to watch how the dev process goes on this one. Let the writers write.
Do you prevent yourself from watching a movie if you hear the ending is bad? Wasn't long ago that a movie or a videogame was about the journey, not just the conclusion. People like you that lost so much respect for the series because of the last ten minutes sicken me.

Please don't imply that the only problem people have with ME3 is the ending. The game was glitchy as hell, the animations and textures were terrible, decent side missions were removed and replaced with a couple dozen planet-scanning fetchquests and multiplayer map advertisements, they butchered the character of the Geth, decisions hardly mattered, and most ME2 squadmates are ignored entirely and instead of getting previous popular squadmates back, we get ****** neanderthalis, the Sexbot-3000 and Mr. Day One On Disk DLC.

The critics that I watch did make note that they thought the ending was poorly executed, especially after some of the promises they made.
The difference is that the critics still rated the game highly because they thought the rest of the game was amazing then made note of the ending. Certain fans bombed the entire game simply because of the last 10 minutes
As it's already been mentioned, yes some people didn't like other aspects of the game as well. I'm not talking about you, however.

I really hope you don't trust an industry as corrupt and profit-driven as video game journalism.
