What visual effects are you hoping to change/improve for DA3?
A big one for me was the lightning. The Sarebaas lightning abilities were WAAAYY cooler looking than the lightning we got in my opinion (and the lightning staves were more cool than the actual lightning spells). And Chain Lightning was very blink-and-you-miss it. In fact, a lot of the spells were a little understated for my tastes. I mean, you don't want to go too far, but most of the Entropy school was so subtle, you might not even notice the effects. I did enjoy Horror though.
Also, the basic staff attacks. I loved some and hated others. I'm kinda of hoping they get a little more...less uniform the next time. LIke, if the sequence of fire attacks actually delivers the bolts of flame in slightly different ways. I didn't care for the Nature Damage staves, but I loved Spirit and Lightning. I dunno...any thoughts?

From what we've seen from the Frostbite2 engine in other games, lighting is a big benefit. If something puts off luminescence, the physics we've seen in other games do well to make that feel real and lifelike.
We can hope that when we cast a fireball or shoot lightning in a pitch black cave, it lights things up like Christmas Eve. But to be sure, we'd need to see actual gameplay footage.

Oh oh I want them to make my fist that punches out of the ground glow I love that thing.
