Na, not quite. ~cringe~

I always thought of Synthesis as a lot like Stroggification. What's Stroggification you ask? I think this scene from Quake 4 can explain that in more detail. In my mind, that's pretty much how I see synthesis. If you're ok with that then by all means be green and happy.

...and why do you think theReaper's are harvesting Earth?  Why do you think there's all those dead human bodies piled around the Beam and in the Citadel?

For the LOLZ?

Oh, I get it.  Anything that forces a horrible compromise on you, regardless of whether the scenario makes any contextual sense, is automatically deep and artistic.

"Synthesis is bad."

"It's also optional"

"The other choices have negatives too."

"Because it's supposed to be a hard choice"

"You're saying it's deep and artistic"

Dunno how you made that leap in logic, or what it has to do with anything we said before it. It's a different argument that I have no interest in, as I just care about the facts of the end not subjective opinions on it.

"Synthesis is supposed to look like the best ending."

"But Bioware understood that most people would want to destroy the Reapers."

"So they added a horrible, arbitrary drawback to Destroy, to prop up Synthesis."

"Yay hard choices."

No. It's transhumanism!  And transhumanism is GOOD.  Therefore Synthesis is GOOD.

Yeah, it *is* transhumanism.

Even the most rabid anti-Synthesizer would say as much.

But then again, you have always been a "special" case.

It's transmogrification via a waving of a magic wand and a sprinkle of green faerie dust.

Well hard choices aren't a problem in a game like ME3, it's just the way they've been presented. It feels so incoherent to the rest of the game, like they wrote all the game, then attached the endings to it. Just like the human centipede was made by attaching people that weren't supposed to be o.O (here it comes again, the centipede).
"Just my opinion though, no need to spread it around"

You're deflecting one issue with another. How it was applied doesn't make the final outcome any less transhumanistic.

I know you Synthies like to start with the result and then devise a retro-justification, while hand-waving all the narrative and thematic issues and relying heavily on the Bad Writing Theory. Do continue.

Except the result was the topic at hand, not the implementation, not until you tried to change the subject.

And FYI, I don't handwave or rely on playing the "bad writing" card to address the ending. Frankly an IT supporter shouldn't have the nerve to throw such claims. IT is glorified handwaving, picking and choosing what happened and what didn't to their liking. And without IT they would all be anti-enders (if they don't realize they already are), so score one for BWT.

How can anybody justify forcing Synthesis on the rest of the galaxy like that? Everybody turned into networked green-glowing monstrosities because you were afraid to become the Reaper-God-King or to destroy some geth and AIs?

Another thing...how would synthesis even work?

I mean destroy and control (minus low EMS ending destroy) I see as a kind of EMP blast, which would explain why destroy took out EDI and the Geth. Synthesis would have to affect every sentient life form (since I didn't see that weird green stuff on the trees at the end) in the galaxy at a molecular level.

I get the idea of artistic licence, but isn't that stretching it, just a bit? I mean this is SCIENCE fiction afterall...

Right.  There's always the super-satisfying option of genociding the geth, thereby negating one of the high points of the game.

Or becoming a Reaper.

You don't "genocide" a bunch of equipment but yes, it's super-satisfying wiping out murderous robots who the game was trying to whitewash the past atrocities of.

Lay of the IT kool aid, there's no "becoming a reaper" in 3.

Actually, that is EXACTLY what happens if you choose Control.  You become a Reaper.

No you dont. You become the new Catalyst. You replace the AI that the Leviathans made. You don't become a reaper. Pay attention next time.

It's also kind of like the Zha'til story and that worked out really good where the tech took over inside organics.

(I snipped the rest because... you know. (: )

Is it said that you become the next Catalyst? I always thought you become some sort of higher entity able to control the Reapers, but not a new Catalyst - because why whould Shep replace the current one? The Catalyst itself didn't say anything about it. And how would it be possible to turn a human of flesh and blood into an Artifcial Intelligence (that the Catalyst is)? - I know, I know. Space magic, just like the Synthesis ending, too. But you get the gist of it.
