Since ME2 Shepard is half organic, half synthetic. There is no difference between the original Shepard and the new Shepard.

synthesis is like....

Replace your internal organs. you wont need them.
add cybernetics to your DNA.
Implant tech to improve your body's performance.

wait a mo....that makes you a collector.

Except synthesis doesn't do any of that.

It always astounds me how much people like projecting their own hate and/or perversions onto something, even when it isn't relevant.

If you had a brain and have been paying attention, like smart people do, you would see saren foreshadowing synthesis, and TIM forshadowing control.  Also.......dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnnnn Mordin forshadowing synthesis when discussing the collectors.

also...dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnnnnn.  anyone taking the endings at face value needs to go take a lie down imo.  Enjoy that wont you.

Would you like to take notes?  I'm here all weekend.

That's a good question to ask yourself.

This is probably the stupidest thread I've ever seen, but for reasons which escape me I'm actually going to try and give a serious answer.

No, synthesis is not like the human centipede. The human centipede is about one biological entity being merged into another, not biological/synthetic.

If you were going to say that then you could equally say that synthesis is like eating. Or synthesis is like sex.

This thread is a metaphor. Metaphors are not supposed to be that overly specific.

The human centipede is a crime against nature. Synthesis is a crime against nature.

Right.  There's always the super-satisfying option of genociding the geth, thereby negating one of the high points of the game.

Or becoming a Reaper.

You don't "genocide" a bunch of equipment but yes, it's super-satisfying wiping out murderous robots who the game was trying to whitewash the past atrocities of.

Lay of the IT kool aid, there's no "becoming a reaper" in 3.

He's talking about Control, where your mind gets digitized and spread out over every single reaper? Hence you become a Reaper. or the reapers become you. *shrug*.

OT: Synthesis is genetic rape of the entire galaxy. I would personally murder anyone who did that to me.

Yeah, no matter your interpretation of the ending, you do "become a Reaper" in Control. If being/controlling a fleet of galactic holocaust ships is your thing, well, there's nothing stopping you from choosing that.

many are watching and laughing.

Were you laughing before or after my informant revealed your little scheme that caused you to panic?

err......nope and i dont panic.

i laugh at you lot, but panic.......? nah.  there are more things in this world than worrying about you lot.  as much as you lot might think we pay you attention, we dont.  we pity you.

Ah, so that's why you quickly edited this post when Seboist posted it publically on the BSN (so everyone can see how pathetic you are) and Chris Priestly decided to lock your pathetic thread down?

Wow you've got too much free time on your hands.

Are you my twin? Because I swear we're thinking on the same wavelength or something.

Ever since ME1 I've got the TTGL vibe; standing in the face of hopeless, inevitable death by an ancient cosmic force and saying "FRAK YOU! WE'LL DECIDE OUR OWN FATES!"

Then, right when our adrenaline is pumping on overdrive as we prepare to end this cycle and prove life can evolve past any obstacle... Starbrat appears. And any semblance of the Shepard we watched become a symbol of hope against annihilation is replaced by this passive shell taking advice from the very force that started this cycle.

In my opinion, EC's Refusal ending makes this shift even worse, especially if you verbally call the Catalyst out on his ass-backwards solutions. In a speech that Simon and Kamina would have approved of Shepard refuses to dictate the fate of trillions that have fought to get here. Life has the right to determine its own fate and no amount of rushed exposition and convenient yet flawed solutions will break this ideal.

And as a reward for sticking to our guns we get a glorified GAME OVER sequence eulogizing the galaxy's deceased will to self-determinate.

Okay, rant mode: OFF.

And apologies for the trauma of the pictures early. Please accept this artistic interpretation of my headcannon as an apology.

[super awesome pic snipped]

Haha, yeah, you might be onto something with that twin thing.  I agree with pretty much everything you say.

I have made posts comparing the similarities of Gurren Lagann and Mass Effect elsewhere, and one of the first things I did after finishing ME3 for the first time was calling my best friend to tell him that I really needed to rewatch Gurren Lagann asap. The ending is just a near perfect mix of pure awesome and heartbreakingly bittersweet, pretty much what I'd expected from the more upbeat outcomes of the ME trilogy, depending on how you played the games. Instead we have Shep dying alone and far from his friends, "winning" on the terms of his enemy. I'm still not over it.

And don’t worry about the Lilith pic – my shakes aren’t even nearly as bad as a few years ago. Posted Image
