In ME 2 its always Kaiden I have done non imports with both which is why I said it lol.

Sorry for the delay, but was at work. I just loaded a non-import male character and got Ashley in the opening cutscene (and every topic I checked said it's the same (FemShep = Kaidan, Male Shep = Ashley, even in ME2))

idk then but I have never gotten an Ashley playthough in ME 2 without genesis on a non import Shepard regardless of gender.

I like having Liara around myself Tali too. I use everyone equally but I think my fav squad members of the whole series were Wrex, Ashley, Tali, Liara, and Jack.

Tali deserves more play time than I give her. Her skillset is useful against all factions this time around, especially in combination with a Shep using tech powers.

My problem with Liara is that she's so good she becomes central to my strategy without me meaning for it to happen. She pulls more weight than Shep, I think. I flat refuse to use her when I play an Adept, except when forced. The only class I use her regularly with is the Sentinel.

I thought Jack had a very good romance plot in ME2 that was unfortunately gutted like many others in 3. I had problems using her in combat, though, which was rough because I like to take my LI on as many missions as possible. I never got any DLC for ME2, so she was hampered by a bad weapon selection and was fairly fragile. Add to that I thought Shockwave was crap in 2. My best use for her was as a Pull-bot for Adepts and Sentinels, but Samara made her obsolete in that role.

Surprising you feel that way about Jack. She is one of my favorite squad members in ME 2 because of Shockwave. I love the power much more in ME 2 I hardly use it in ME 3. But that could also be because most of my ME 3 play is multiplayer. I also found Tali less useful in ME 3 than the other two games. Not because her skill set wasn't great it was but she seemed to be more effective against the geth than anyone else in ME 3 imo. At least in ME 2 she was useful against the gangs and their mechs. Either way I just started a ME 2 playthrough yesterday night and I am having a lot of fun with it. About to start Horizon (my favorite mission in the whole game) sucks that I am at work right now lol.

Man, I'm just the opposite. I hated Shockwave in ME2 but I like it in 3. It's not my favorite but its decent and, oddly enough, I like it because of multiplayer. I use it a fair bit there but almost never in SP because there's always a better option.

Tali is more effective against the Geth, but Sabotage, Energy Drain and Combat Drone are all more universal now, IMO. In 2 the Drone had a crippling cooldown, like 30 secs I think it was. AI Hacking was good but situational, and Energy Drain doesn't come in 'til late in the game. I could have made more use of her, I suppose, but there always seemed to be somebody more suited to the job at hand. Unless it was a Geth mission, of course.

Shockwave is awesome at lower difficulties, but useless on Hardcore+.

Tali's underrated IMO. Combat Drone is a good power.

In ME1 Vanguards are fairly weak, they're undoubtedly the glass cannon class. Adepts and Soldiers rule that game. The other classes are good, but nothing compared to those two. Sentinel would be up there if it wasn't so damn fragile.

Combat drone is a fantastic power. I just find other powers to be more useful. I also play ME 2 on hardcore and just never found Shockwave to be a bad power. And I would also take an infiltrator in ME 1 over a solider.

Whaaaaat? Image IPB

Never heard that before. VG is nothing like a glass cannon in ME1. They have Barrier, medium armor and decent health. They're tougher than anything except Soldier and Infiltrator that both have Immunity. I'm surprised that anyone would believe that VG is weak but Adepts rule. Give him Singularity as a bonus and the only thing he can't do that an Adept can is use the highly over-rated Stasis, while casting twice as fast thanks to Adrenaline Burst.

Very strange point of view you have, my friend.

i agree about stasis in ME 1 and ME 2 in fact really sucks. Stasis is a great power in ME 3

I am going to echo brad2240 and say Whaaaaaaaat?

Vanguard may be the strongest class in ME1:
 - the second-best protection power (Barrier)
 - the best disabling power (Lift)
 - Adrenaline Burst to reset all power cooldowns.
 - Pistols

Give the Vanguard Singularity and it becomes a better Adept.

All the hybrid classes are really better than the pure classes in that game because essentially they got a mix of all the best powers.

If Vanguard had Immunity it would easily be the best.  I am not sure which I think is really the strongest.  Sentinel is like the serious swiss army knife class in that game though.

If ME1 had ME3's combat, controls and movement it would be probably the greatest game ever made. But the controls and combat are TERRIBLE. They were doable in 2007, but they are really, really dated and sloppy now.
