On the topic of spawn nuking to speed things up. What the hell is up with nuking a spawn with a rocket and all the bosses survive with some health left? How long does the spawn DR last? I sometimes nuke spawns in pugs and half the time they survive.

6 seconds +/- lag to host.

Unfortunately, the last 3 solo attempts have gotten me devices on Glacier vs. Reapers.

Well, the moment you get devices you can kiss goodbye any attempts at getting a good time. F**** devices! >:(

On Wave 6/10, absolutely.  I don't mind devices on Wave 3, even on Glacier.  It can pretty easily be a sub 1:30 objective, as the enemies will be chasing you from device to device.  That s**t never works out on Wave 10 though.  I usually count myself lucky if I get out of a Wave 10 devices alive when soloing.

I hate them on any wave, especially since the game usually loves to give me the following device right next to the one I just capped right as the enemies had zeroed in on my position.... :pinched:

Though generally speaking yes, wave 3 isn't THAT bad when compared to the others.

On a more serious note. I'm surprised people didn't mention this. But yeah, not many people are really trying to help in this topic, are they?

The thing which really made the difference for me in soloing time is kiting. It's pretty easy: the more you kite, the longer the time. If you don't ever need to run away from the enemy, then your time will be shorter. A lot shorter.

On objective waves too... Hacks, for example. Or escorts. If you manage to stay in the circle for the whole duration without running away... That will cut your times down a lot.

If you're willing to change class/loadout, then I suggest you try a vanguard solo. Given what charge can accomplish, I think they're probably the easiest class to solo without kiting.

That said, it's pretty much all tied to objectives, after a certain point. You can definitely get under 30, even 25 minutes, even if you get devices on wave 10. But once you try to get lower than 20 mins, devices are pretty much a rage quite. At least to me.

Devices always suck while soloing esp vs Reapers/Colectors because of grabby-handed husks that seem to magically speed up and grab you right when you start

BatGuard solos are probably my favorite.

My problem is i have not soloed enough to figure out sure fire where the spawns are going to spawn. In a group game I have a good handle on it but it can be a fair bit different when soloing.

Husks, stupid husks.  They always grab me right before the device is done.  Can't count the number of times I've been screaming nonononononononononono at the TV as the Husk starts to hump me.

Re spawn control, I usually force enemies to spawn in the basement at the start of the wave by standing at the ammo box in the lab and adjusting my position so I have a view of the end of the hallway. Is that optimal?

Quarian male engineer should net you below 30 min on glacier geth. Nuke the spawns with his grenades and incinerate. Bring a harrier for the primes and pyros and get lucky on the objectives,

Deplete the wave budget efficiently.

Each enemy has a certain cost, and there's a total you need to deplete. Some enemies, like husks barely make a dent in it so that's a waste of time, while other enemies like Banshees or Atlas mechs take so long to kill that it becomes inefficient as well.

Enemies like Dragoons, Phantoms, Brutes, Ravagers or anything of the sort can be killed really quickly, letting you drain the budget faster.

Thanks for the serious response, Deerber.

I'm willing to consider anything that doesn't involve the reegar carbine and/or krogan vanguard.  I might have a looser definition of 'cheating' than Feneckus or Annomander, but I know I was soloing geth gold with the Reegar Kroguard 6 months ago and getting 25 minute completion times without using any actual skill, and I have no interest in revisiting that.

I guess I'll try a grenade vanguard, since that seems to be the closest thing there is to a concensus.

No problem ;)

Slayer and Novaguard against Cerberus are pretty easy, if you know how to play the kits. Drellguard against Reapers/Cerberus might be a good choice too. You might want to change map if you use a Drell/Asariguard though, as you might run out of nades on glaciers.

Aside from Vanguard another option would be the Fury.
High damage output and assuming you can see everything you'll know when to hit up those Marauders and regain your shields.

Just viewing a Platinum Solo from N7-Link will demonstrate how well he gets up close and personal, dishes it out and lives to tell the tale, albeit we all don't have 10 Ops Packs.

Just an option, but realistically that's all there is to it, don't kite, pray that you don't get devices and occasionally nuke spawn.
Other char suggestions would lie along anything with ED or Adrenaline Rush (nice reload + restoring shield gate). I personally see sub-20 on anything other than glacier as an achievement though.

Spawn nuke with Grenades.

Asari Vanguard is one of the best solo classes in the game.

Would she be really that great in Glacier? the ammo boxes are rather stingy.

I think a Slayer/Cerb/Glacier can go really quicky now with the buff to PD.

The buff didn't change much, from that point of view. You can trust me on that.

While a lot of people originally hated it, I'm pretty partial to Goddess for soloing with grenade classes.  Lots of grenades, plenty of good soft/hard cover, not too big, multiple opportunities to grenade/rocket spawns.

Yeah I'd do either Goddess or Jade with a grenade class. Devices locations can be a pain in those maps but then again, devices are always a pain no matter what.

Reapers are a good faction to solo as long as you focus on taking out Ravagers and Marauders first. Keeping your head on a swivel for those Husks is a must during objectives. Leave the Banshees for last. Fire based powers and ammo are your safest bet as their ranks are saturated with armor.

Since the introduction of Dragoons, I've gotten slower at soloing them. They make devices and hacks a pain due to being so quick. They synergize with Phantoms quite well which makes them doubly dangerous. Kiting them is most effective.

Geth are not too bad to solo as long as you have plenty of cover and multiple escape routes. Bombers plague me during objectives.

Collectors...they hurt me.
