Hey all, I just started playing through the trilogy again, and for the first time I am playing as a FemShep. This time around I want to try a few things differently.
With the exception of a few minor choices, all of my male Sheps have been pretty much the same (full Paragon, save the council, save the rachni, save Wrex, tell TIM to screw off, destroy the Collector base, etc.) I have played full renegade before, but that was really just for achievement purposes. Unlike Star Wars games like KOTOR and TOR where Dark Side choices are fun and fulfilling in a Sith way, I just can't bring myself to play a true renegade character in Mass Effect. I feel like its just unrealistically douchey and indiscriminate hatred towards pretty much everyone. While that might suit a Sith, it doesn't feel right for an Alliance officer and a Spectre who's ultimate goal is to save the galaxy.
However, I do want to make some different choices this time through. I am pretty much making the choices I would if I was put in those situations.
Arya Shepard is pretty much like this: Colonist/War Hero. Chip on her shoulder because of losing her family on Mindoir, uses the pain to drive her to be better. HATES BATARIANS because of Mindoir and Elesium. Is very cautious of aliens, but doesn't indiscriminately hate. Eventually becomes friends with and trusts Garrus, Wrex, Tali, Liara, etc. but doesn't trust everyone. She is frustrated by the Council but understands the importance the Council serves. Still frustrated by them for not listening though. She is very paragon toward friends, crew members, allies, etc. but will kill anyone who stands in her way. Pretty much a "Paragade" where paragon takes priority, she is a good person, but she isn't afraid to be ruthless towards anyone who tries to stop her.
Given this, what choices would you reccomend that I make differently from my other pure paragon Shepards? I'm willing to try anything, but some chocies like killing Wrex and the Coincil in ME1 give me the feeling that I will miss out on content in ME2 and ME3 and those characters will just be replaced by filler. What have you found to be significant differences that are enjoyable?
Story choices question *ME 1 and 2 spoilers*

I wonder if it is possible to get a high Renegade rank by pissing off only non-squad characters ...

Well I would suggest that you do at least one play through with sacrificing the council just to experience it You never really miss out on things , just certain situations play out a bit different thats all

vented garrus in me2, made for a more enjoyable/romance with traynor in me3 only small scene but i found it funny, also venting him gave me abit more dialogue with liara if she was my LI
use gibbed to acquire legion early in ME2 an take him to Tali loyalty mission, changes dialogue slightly in me3 with admirals.
Id heavily suggest if your doing a full trilogy run to do everything differently just to experience the different outcomes.
Killing wrex, leads to different outcomes in me3 although his replacement basically says does things the same
Killing Rachni queen, do it then realease her in me3
dont save the council
do everything you havent done before just to experience it all anew.
If you want to rp it just think your femshep as total ruthless (tbh she is the better renegade option anyhow), when im renegade i dont think of it as being a dick i think of it as getting the job done an noone stands in my way, but im nice to squadies

I would say most of the "replacements" aren't filler, but Bioware made them interesting and well-written in their own right. It's worth seeing them.
Having said that, the way you describe your character, I can see her sacrificing the council in ME1 as well as killing the Rachni Queen, but I'd say she would intimidate Wrex into backing down on Virmire. She sounds too loyal to give up on Wrex.

I always save Wrex. He is soo cool not to let him die.
I usually save Ashley, because she is a she. me a male! ;p My first trilogy play through, I was a female adept romance Asari through all three, without cheating on "her".
My 2nd play through was a male engineer, and romance tali in 2 and 3, and no romanced in 1.
Now, I gotta finish my male infiltrator who romance Ashley. currently on me2. gonna do all missions possible, look on every single planet for missions, cheat for money and resources. ANd no romance in 2.
Then I am gonna play a female soldier through all three, who is gonna romance . . . . ?
