Wow.

http://www.forbes.co...ck-time-events/

So let me get this straight: on DAY ONE of the official reveal, we learn that

1) It will be a large open world  (as opposed to the cramped world-space we got in #2)
2) they're scrapping QTEs  (the absolute worst feature in a video game ever)
3) They will finally bring the Wild Hunt  to front and center as the main plotline.  (What I've been begging for)

I feel violated...  like  a team of developers invaded my mind while I was sleeping, stole my innermost thoughts, and decided to make a game out of them LOL)

And now the wait.... the really long wait....

The witcher 3 will revolutionize gaming. Cdprojekt red is setting themselves up as the lord of RPG's. this is going to be amazing. 30 times larger than the world of Witcher 2.

I mean witcher 2 is an amazing game. One of the greatest RPG's ever made. And it looks like cdprojekt is going to blow that away and everything else.

I. Can't. Wait.

Thing to keep in mind is that those screens are still based on the old renderer, so the final game will likely look much nicer.

Getting some very Iron Islands from Game of Thrones sort of vibes from some of those screenshots. The sailing seems like it could be very cool. Hopefully there are some sea monsters!

To echo Brock, CDPR has said the images are an old rendering of technology still in progress, and claim that the final version will be much better. It already looks damn good, so if they can hold true to that, then that's amazing.

I hope, too, beyond reckoning....image pop gets eliminated. All open world games to this point have major problems with it. To those who frequent The Witcher forums, bring this up and challenge CDPR.

I guess someone had to ask the inevitable question, will our decisions from the second game carry over to this one?

They have to.

The real question is, whether we'll see things change in a significant manner due to them. They might "isolate" the effects of your decisions in a way that you only see or hear the effects briefly.

The only location that we are sure to explore is Skellige, series of islands west from the coast of Verden (not to be confused with the city Vergen).

QTE's are scrapped? That'd be great, but I saw info saying they were considering them. I hope not.
If choices are alto have genuine true meaning in an extensive way, I have trust CDRP will deliver. Just look at The Witcher 2 to obviously see that. But personally past games aren't as large a concern for me then choices of this game affecting the storyline. If they could converge both, it'd be brilliant.

I'm hoping for a combat overhawl. Not in statistics or strategy or ability to slow. But in in general fluidity. I hope more of a chance to pause and strategize is there, but they analyze and see what has been done with Kingdoms of Amalur as far as fluidity. Now I'm obvious not calling for over the top, exaggerated combat. Just the fluidity and freedom of the character. Add in a target lock and slow it down a hair....make the enemies have intelligent, varied tactics and have generally good HP. Give Quen more meaning and have the cost to vigor higher. Allow seemless fluidity in combat and give more realistic animations. Genuine animations. Just keep it purely based off of hardline stats and twitch ability.

Combat overhaul is coming, especially they are scrapping rolling and getting a pivot move instead and with 96 animations we are going to get a cery nice looking combat.
And yeah QTEs are gone, dead. I dunno why everyone and their fathers hate them so much, especially in Witcher which has was really few of them...

Iron Islands = Skellige(but they are the good guys in Witcher World)

An open world game with branching narratives?

That'll certainly be unique and revolutionary.

If I look at the newly released info and screenshots, it’s starting to look like The Witcher III is going to play like a mix of The Witcher II, Skyrim and Two Worlds II, which was also made by a Polish studio.

Two Worlds II is also a nice example of what to do, and what not to do in such a kind of game. At least based on my experience with the PC version. I suspect CD Projekt has been taking a long, hard look at this game as well (not just the sailing mechanic) – what worked, what did not work, what had potential etc.

Frankly, I had multiple joygasms trying to imagine a well-executed hybrid of the three games.

I'm curious about this too, but reading the Witcher website they put up a timeline of events from the past games to The Witcher 3 and put this up:

"May 1272
The war with Nilfgaard obliterated the old order. The North is engulfed in chaos, and marching armies leave a plague of  monsters in their wake. Geralt of Rivia once more treads the Witcher’s  Path."

So it seems like the war with Nilfgaard might be a convenient excuse to do some handwaving with respect to certain choices you might have made in TW2. Or the setting just might have Geralt be far enough away from places like Vergen to not have them factor into the story.

If we're going to be near Novigrad, thats a free city near or in Redania I think, so Radovid might play a role.
