I sort of like Dethmold, not saying he didn't deserve his fate, but I like how delightfully creepy he is and he had some fantastic dialogue.

"Shake my hand, Geralt, to mark the start of our friendship. Don't worry, there's no poisoned needle up my sleeve or anything!"

He had a thing for Geralt. Wanted that third sword.

I felt the same. Dethmold deserved everything he got, yet I can't help but love his character.

I love to hate Dethmold. He was a fantastic character that just made you hate him and you just could not wait to kill him on Roches path.

I lost it when he called himself "Uncle Dethmold" when talking to Anais.

I liked Henselt too in a way, loved the voice. I still grin at the part where Dethmold suggests using necromancy to get information out of the dead assassin.

"Plough that corpse if you have to, do anything it takes."

But... he saves you!

...twice!

When he saves you from the dungeon, he's just using you because he needs all the help he can get to get his revenge. It's all well and good that I don't die in a dungeon because of him, but he'd put shackles around your neck if he had the means to keep you in line.

Also, that's the only time I can recall him saving you.

Act 2 introduced alot of great characters. Henselt, Dethmold, and Philipa <3

If you do Iorveths path, he saves Geralt from being beheaded.

When? Are you talking about the pure Iorveth path, when you side with him when Roche shows up after meeting what's-his-face the kingslayer?

Act 2, in the Nilfgaard camp.

I've yet to play through Iorveths path. Nice one!

I think I vaguely recall that part.

Had Roche and Vess not came there, Geralt would have lost his head and the journey would have ended there on that path.

Even when you're not on his path he's still a bro.

Dethmold just makes me uneasy. It's a reason some will find to be insignificant or not worth much fuss but it just rubbed me the wrong way. He's sadistic and he's creepy but not only that, he's also gay! If he was one of a few (or even a couple) of gay characters, it wouldn't be a big deal but he's the only one. Coupled with the manner in which he's killed, it's more unsettling. I get that Witcher is populated with all shades of gray (more than 50 in any case) and the world is a brutal one but Dethmold's characterisation/backstory was entirely in the hands of the writers. They can choose what to display within the world and it's just a shame to me that they thought it appropriate to go in that direction.

...

Iorveth and Roche are both pretty good bros I guess. I initially disliked Iorveth on his 'path' but grew to like him as Act 2 went on a. The trust between Geralt and Iorveth seemed to organically grow.

Philippa is shown to be in a homosexual relationship as well.

Philippa is shown to be in a homosexual relationship as well.

The relationship itself is shown to be a reason that she gets duped and manipulated.

She's also shown to be quite morally bankrupt and duplicitous as well but not to the levels of Dethmold. I guess, she has more redeemable characteristics? Still, she fits snugly into the antagonistic category as far as Geralt is concerned.

Again, it was unsettling but nothing to turn me off the game totally. I don't expect everyone to feel the same.

I remember now. Good on him for saving you, I guess, but I still don't regret ditching him.

That said it's not like I consider Iorverth a bro either - he just happened to be who Zoltan sided with.

What is wrong that he is gay? Is there a gay code that all gay characters must be shown to be innocent bunnies?
