I didn't see any major spoilers in the documents, and a lot of it seems a bit outdated. Nice map of Ard Skellige though.

The leak is nowhere near as bad as ME3 leak was.

ME3 leaked entire plot from the beggining to the end, TW3 didn't even scratched the surface.

 

It barely contains any spoilers and endings are all summed up with few words, which you can't even piece them together. Book readers might but it's nothing to be concerned about. Good news however is that a lot of TW2 characters will return in 3rd game, which makes me really happy.

On another note, I'm looking to pick up the english translations of the Witcher books, I've never read them before and I'm curious if anyone knows what I can expect from the writing style. I enjoy the games and I'm curious how different the tone, characters, themes, etc are in the books. As I understand it, the author of the books and the devs of the games have no working relationship, so I am curious how different the books might be.

 

I am currently reading the Geralt saga in a German translation and I am somewhere in the middle of "Baptism of Fire". As someone else has pointed out, the first two books (The Last Wish and The Sword of Destiny) are collections of short stories but a good read. They are considerably influenced by mythology and fairy tales. The short stories offer background information on some of the future events (books No. 3-7). Without revealing too much, I can say that the parents of an ashen haired girl named Ciri play a part in one of the stories. Books No. 3-7 describe Ciri's fate in more detail. 

 

Sometimes the books are entertaining and easy to read. At other times they are a bit tiresome in my opinion because Sapkowski switches a lot between different characters and story lines. The story lines are somehow connected but that isn't always obvious and it takes the writer a while to get to the point. He also describes sword fights extensively and uses technical terms for certain movements. I actually like that but the movements do not always become clear to me. But the writer is really good with dialogues and characters and I got a few good laughs out of the books. That being said, I would recommend to read them.

 

About the difference between the games and the books: From my point of view the games are inspired by the books in a way that they implement the world nicely with all of it's racial hatred, the political turbulences, the architecture and the landscapes and so. In short: The games establish the atmosphere from the books nicely. Furthermore, the developers "borrow" a lot of the book characters but they have their own interpretation of them. Triss, for example, does not play such an important part in the books as she does in the games. Geralt isn't looking for a king slayer either in the books. So, the stories are mostly different. Then again, I am not quite finished yet and with TW3 coming up, there might be more connections between the books and the game.

I don't want to know if Shani, Thaler or anyone will appear in TW3. I surely can skip this forum to avoid spoilers, but there will be people who don't know there was a leak and who will came across spoilers.

 

If you like the franchise and if you respect the developer, you have to keep it for yourself or keep the discussion in private. Like Blooddrunk104 said, book readers might be able to piece the "few words" together. Let's respect our fellow witcherites.

There is a non-zero chance.  It'll depend on when I get to it of course.  I don't know if it's really competing with anything else that I may rate more highly on "must play" lists for when it's released.

Since I don't speak any Polish, I can't really tell if the translation is spot on. It works for me though. So, yes, if you speak German, you should probably get the books in German. The advantage is that the whole Geralt saga is translated and published. Maybe you can even rent them as epubs or .pdfs from your library. That's what I did. (My library usually doesn't have the stuff that I am interested in but much to my surprise you could borrow The Witcher books in digital form.)
