I want Iorveth in Witcher 3! He was badly burned on my playthrough, and I never got to know what happened after Triss took care of him.
That's not how I mentioned my depart with Iorveth. I want him at my side during W3.

I loved the guy, but my Geralt loved Triss more (flameshield activated.) I hope he doesn't turn into a Kaidan and can see that his revenge was not in my best interests at the time. Or can at least understand that for me, Triss was more important than exacting justice on his overblown boner-killer.

Yes, exactly. My Geralt chose to save Triss, but at that time I didn't know what would happen with Iorveth. So you could say that it's not my (Geralt's) fault. Only after the damage has been done. (Literally; damage) At least he is being taken care of. But to what extent :crying: Hopefully he'll come save me when the Wild Hunt is preparing to roast me for dinner.

Awesome!

And now I'm picturing Geralt joining Emhyr var Emreis and his cause in the Northern conflict and its demise, as well as him teaming up with Letho and the rest of the School of the Viper members in stopping the Wild Hunt.

Make it happen!

OMG yes! Letho and Geralt fighting the spectres in a "You shall not pass!" scenario alongside other members of the Witcher schools. Kaer Morhen members should also be included!:D

What I don't get is how with 2+ million sales they can do ALL OF THIS?! Do other devs just throw that money away at CGI trailers or something? How does CDPR afford all this?

They don't pay their workers very much.

Also, they have a cash cow: GoG.com. That helps, without a doubt.

People use this term "cash cow" for anything.  I don't think it means what you think it means.  GOG.com sells games for ridiculously cheap.

And on what do you base the claim that they don't pay their workers much?  Poland has a lower cost of living, that's not the same thing.

Sadly I'm having to re-evaluate Razorfist, too.  He's funny and the only game reviewer I know who makes fun of [certain political figures with bloated egos] redacted for decorum.  And he didn't steer me wrong praising the Thief series.  But he was wrong about Fallout New Vegas and Dishonored, almost surely because he's just got an odd chip on his shoulder about Obsidian and Bethesda.  Not that this is uncommon.   And now he's crapping the bed seriously on Witcher, especially by banning any dissent in the comments.  Ah well, Angry Joe is about the only reviewer left that I listen to.

Yea Angry Joe is the only reviewer I listen to as well.

I don't base buying decisions on him and I don't always agree with him, but he seems to be the only one who's genuine. Like he doesn't have an agenda, or has a chip[ on his shoulder with regards to X company (except capcom, but they deserve it).

Depends on the comparative cost of living and how much people are willing to work for at a competative price. Nor do they have EA's unholy bloated marketing budget. Nor their logistical problems and public financing issues which have to be serviced. Company finance, law and accounts are more complicted than, they don't pay as much or they pay more.

I think you misunderstand what a cash cow is. GoG like Steam, Origin, doesn't actually produce any IPs or product. It is an quasi asset and a potential structure to facilitate a revenue stream. But you can't sell it. You can only "sell" the IP's on it. it is not in itself an IP.

Cash cow would be CoD, MoH, sports franchises, which require few changes, produce year on year, have lots of DLC potential and require a low cost in development comparative to their return.

CDPR does not have a cash cow.

Yeah, Angry Joe is pretty good. Like his review of TW2. He has issues, which I don't find a problem, but different strokes for different folks. Yet the core of his review is well done and matches up to what I thought of the game.

Yatzee from Zero punctuation is good, but I'd take what he says with a large shovel of salt, and a tongue in cheek attitude, it's more aimed towards informed viewers, people who have played the game, as 3 minutes is not often long enough for a proper review.

For instance I disagree with his points on TW, but his views on things like XCOM and Far Cry 3 were spot on. Same with Skyrim. Yet I adore the way he lampoons the Black ops 2 games and the latest round of generic shooters, even if he derides them ruthlessly.

A shame. I've always considered Razorfist an intelligent and oftentimes hilarious reviewer. But after this I've come to the conclusion that he's nothing but a pretentious git. Ah well, at least Angry Joe is still around.

Seriously? One video took you from "intelligent" to "git?"

I suppose my turn of opinion seems sudden, but I can't help but feel he's being needlessly idiotic in his reasoning for swearing off The Witcher. I've watched the guy for awhile and while I've often enjoyed his videos, I've always had the sense he was talking out of his ass half the time. This video just confirms it.

He is talking out his arse. I studied copyright law, and the link is slight at best, beyond the broad strokes. I'd advise the chap to read up on the laws of copyright before he makes a complete arse hat of himself.

Really? I found it cringe-worthy. The very first "joke" in the review is about the single medium length erotic scene Witcher 2 has, and this joke lasts for 2 minutes.

This is the first thing he wants to show people? Really? *rolls eyes*

You missed the important part of what I said. The core points about the game itself. The rest you can take or leave.

Yea that did annoy me, and simply gave credibility for those who said TW2 was a game for horny guys.

Razorfist is... weird. I either agree or disagree with him 100%.

I'm still unsure if he really means that Invisible War is not only a good game, but a good Deus Ex game, or if he was just trolling the viewers. Invisible War is one of my worst RPG, shooter *and* stealth game experiences to date

I stopped listening to him when he kept lying about the nature of Obsidian's involvement in Wasteland 2. Every god damn time he'd say something along lines of "Who the f*** Obsidian think they are, blackmailing inXile $500k on the Kickstarter, THE NERVE!" Of course totally ignoring that Fargo approached Obsidian and Chris Avellone to make a deal, and wanted to pay for their tools and time even if Avellone said he would have almost worked for them for free

Hopefully this time Emhyr will use a language where key words haven´t two different meanings. I´m more afraid about any sorceress (excluding Yenn) gatting close to Ciri. And that includes Triss too.

OT. Angry Joe kind of defended the new DmC as a game, saying it didn´t deserve that low user scores in MC. About what it did to the characters on the other side... But he explains what he likes and not and why.

As for Yenn, I really hope we won't be *forced* to love her. Yes, she is his former lover, but I enjoy CDPR's stance on the pre-defined character. Geralt, in his own way, is set with standards, opinions and rules; but there are certain liberties when it comes to forming an identity, which is why I love The Witcher games so much because they focus on that.

Ideals and motives belong with our imagination, the subjective realm is free to elaborate on what we perceive as best to fill the void within Geralt of Rivia. Yenn should be part of that void, and we should have the choice to fill it in with Triss (along with other potential romance options... if they are available. But I doubt it, the Witcher tries to avoid that area of narrative technique as much as possible; Triss and Yenn are enough for me for a choice.)

His memory is back, and he never could put Yenn behind, in fact Triss was a failed attempt at doing so. It´s also unfair to introduce Yenn now after giving Triss 2 games. It does surprise me how people tend to ignore she didn´t even ask for her supposed best friend and got the chance he had amnesia to sleep with said best friend´s boyfriend. I hope we have Geralt learn what she did in the last books.

I agree, of the possible encounters in TW2 I only explored the one with Triss in the Iorveth playthrough at the Elven baths as I wanted that to follow through into TW3. I also think that CDPR have deliberately limited the number and scope of romances, for a very valid reason. Look at the potential nightmare of ME2-3 and DAO- DA2 onwards.

It's best that it remain limited to Triss and Yeniffer in that respect, simply because those potential relationships can be anticipated and filled out fully in development, than trying to deal with the myriad of posibilities that expanding that would cause.

Although I do admit that the initial scene of TW2 could have done a better job of providing closure to your position in TW1, but it's not really a issue for me, especially as I didn't play TW1 before number 2 and I can understand why they made the enforced decision of placing Triss with Geralt.

 Picture this.

Geralt walks into the main Redanian military camp. Sees Radovid, who greets him courteously, and tells him that he could aid Geralt in his quest, if he provides a small service. Geralt relunctantly accepts after Radovid reassures him that he won't be  alone.

Geralt turns around, to see Siegfried and Roche in Redanian uniform as companions :o

Being able to pick Triss over Yen would be pretty interesting considering that the latter is supposed to be Geralt's one true love(bound by fate and all).

Angry Joe is my favourite reviewer too. Even when I don't agree with him (although I generally do), at least his videos are always entertaining.

Anyway, on topic, I've just finished my second playthrough of TW2 (literally five minutes ago), so between that and all this new info I've heard about TW3, my anticipation is certainly high.

I wish that would happen, it won't though so the Triss fans can stay with her. Also because CDP loves Triss more then the other female characters.

WOW indeed:

More details: http://gamingeveryth....game-informer/

- The team felt it missed the huge freedom of open-world games like Skyrim

- Proper mounted combat still being tested

- Currently not a definite part of the game

- Horses will be in, though, since they’re important for navigation

- Ships float on the water in true physics interactions

- Team has doubled in size

- No chapters, acts, or any artificial break-points

- Geralt can seamlessly cross from one end of the world to the other thanks to REDengine 3

- No loading screens while traveling in the open world

- Can explore on foot, by horseback, and via boat

- Pursue yor long-lost love, play the game of empires on behalf of the
northern kingdoms that still claim independence, and thwart the
nefarious Wild Hunt

- Fast travel: instantly revisit any discovered location

- Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz: “A huge goal is to keep the high
quality o four quests, with all the cinematics and impressive events and
moments.”

- Point of interest will always be in sight

- Players will be beckoned to explore dank caves, embattled villages, decaying ruins, etc.

- Over 100 hours of hand-scripted quests

- Quests: help villagers, engineer the succession of the Skellige kings, etc.

- Use monster hunting for adventure, incoming, and unique rewards

- There are mini-games based on the area of the world

- Ex: Skellige has knife-throwing

- Gain exclusive rewards from mini-games

- Don’t have to complete mini-games to proceed in the story

- Monsters, bandits, traders, animals, and more will attack anyone they deem hostile

- Enemies don’t scale to the player’s level

- Slaying monsters, fighting hostile humans in the different forms they come in, collecting items, leveling up are in the game

- World 40 times larger than the last game

- Three different aspects to narration

- Lowest level: free-form activities like monster hunting, crafting, individual standalone quests

- Second step: political situation and Nilfgaardian invasion is resolved
through the core plotline of the major areas (Skellige, Novigrad, No
Man’s Land)

- Each land has its own storyline

- Can abandon the storyline, but will have repercussions later

- Not doing a plotline is a choice the player has

- Main narrative: search for Geralt’s loved ones and conflict with the Wild Hunt

- Multiple branches of narratives that feed into each other

- Don’t have to do anything outside the main storyline to beat the game

- Could have help in a main-line encounter from an ally you gained in
the Skellige archipelago if you’ve completed certain quests in certain
ways

- Major events in the main storyline are “gates” for the state of the world

- Ex: village threatened by bandits might be abandoned after certain events if the player doesn’t help

- Weather effects are dynamically generated and fully modeled as real
volumetric clouds rather than being simply painted on the skybox

- In contrast to the last game, Geralt encounters communities and individuals with monster-related problems that need solving

- There aren’t contract-like assignments this time

- Press the left trigger to turn on Geralt’s witcher senses

- Can glean information from a crime scene upon discovering it

- Within range of a scene of interest, the mechanic conveys clues to the
player through the witcher muttering to himself and/or visual
depictions of past events that represent Geralt’s reasoning

- Time of day and other conditions determine where monsters appear and their abilities

- Can strike critical areas in combat based on how much you learn about monster anatomy and tactics

- The team is deciding between using a handful of in-combat special
moves for particular attacks and a slow-motion quick-time event style

- Monsters you defeat leave otherwise unobtainable alchemical and
crafting ingrediants needed for making of unique items, potions,
mutagens

- These allow Geralt to gain special powers and upgrades in the new mutation development tree

- These kills serve as the witcher’s primary method of income

...I have to say, this sounds pretty mouth-watering.

...and I also have to say, they sound very idealistic. it sounds fantastic, but we'll see how it works out, I suppose.

Indeed I hope the option is there I plan to pick it, Besides Geralt doesn't believe in fate so screw fate. But also whatever Geralt used to think or believe is no longer relevant since old Geralt is dead he died when he gave himself to the Wild Hunt. Geralt is our Geralt now with a new prospective on life and his beliefs =D
