It undermines the entire combat system. Get rid of it, or at the very least a massive overhaul.

Well they can just change it something like, dispeling itself when Geralt attacks too or a little casting time like mind control.

I could dig being able to use crossbows in TW3.

If Queen Meve does not make an appearance, I'll not even bother playing it.

For those of you more in the know, was The Witcher planned as a trilogy? What I mean by that is, is this planned to be the last game of the series (or at least wrap up the current conflict)?

At the very least I would like to see them put it on the shelf for a little bit and see them try creating there own IP.  I would love to see what they could do creating there own original game not linked to another IP.

The Witcher 3 will be true to its predecessor, in that it contains:

-Boobs
-Boobs
-Boobs
and, most importantly,
-Boobs

I think they're fine developing established IPs.  Creating an original world and lore would take so much effort that could be put into making games.

Still I would love to see them develop a game based on something they createed themselves, a lot more freedom in what they could create.  Plus they wouldn't have to worry if, for whatever, reason an IP holder decided to discontinue there relationship with CDPR, chances are very low at the moment but still.

*sigh* People who claim the Witcher games are nothing more than interactive porn games are no better than those Fox News blowhards who said the same thing about Mass Effect. <_<

Game developers have been creating their own IP's for years, and generally doing a sh*t job of it. Why do you think story telling in games is met with so much derision? Adapting Sapkowski was a golden opportunity. After all, Bioware basically lifted from Tolkien and Martin to create DA:O.

With CP 2077, they will have a new level of freedom.

@ Sympathy: I have a hunch they kill off Triss.

There are at least 2 major sub-plots to tie up so no, I honestly think Witcher will get a 4th game, maybe even 5th

Forgive me but based off of reading that it feels like you don't believe that CDPR is capable of making an original product.  True many have tried and have not quite pulled it off, and frankly if you use a broad enough brush you can claim there is actually no original content at all anymore.  But CDPR does have a lot of skilled talent, and although I did not like The Witcher series (Apples and Oranges) I can see that the team is quite capable at game design and story structure.

No, what Slim meant is that they chose a brilliant world, story and characters, so it will save them time and effort. That way they could focus on the plot and choices, which are the trademark of this games.
The point has even raised by CDPRed many times:... "Why would we lose time 'inventing' a new fantasy world, when we have this one to play or tinker with?" (or words of similar effect).

Slim is a fan, so he definitely didn't mean to imply CDPRed is not a capable team.

I'm aware that Slim is a fan however it was hard to make out what Slim was implying in that statement, either did not have faith in making new IP's in general or anything more specific to CDPR, it was a bit vague on which way to go.

I'm not attempting to bait or start something it was a genuine query and I also again want to state that I do believe in the team at CDPR and I feel they are quite capable of creating an IP internally

I don´t think they´ll kill Triss, but I find likely she will be revealed to have an agenda more important to her than Geralt.

I assume slimgrin was getting something similar to what I was saying, which is that CDPR's talent can be more efficiently used if they're not having to spend years and lots of money developing an entirely new IP.  There's a lot to be said for entirely new worlds, but the IPs they've chosen are not ones that were broadly familiar when they started working on them (The Witcher was, outside Poland, mostly unknown).  So IMO it's the best of both worlds.  They get a deep world that's already got a good foundation, with a core group of fans already interested, and can concentrate their talents on creating a great game for it, but for most people it's still new material and we don't have to wait 5 or 10 years between games.

Ahh, Shani.

But unfortunately, since TW2 decided to forget she ever existed, it seems kind of unlikely.

I'll definitely play it. I'll also definitely be playing it in Polish, even if they improve the wretched English voice acting the first two have featured...
