To folks who frequent The Witcher forums...put in the word for your buddy sympathy4saren that PS4 version needs a choice input of The Witcher 2 so I can insert the choices I made on my 360. Thanks!!!
Sweet info drop, Slim. It'll be cool going back to Flotsam. And glad sailing is free sail. That'll be a lot of fun.
And glad brothels are around and they'll have nekked ladies. Ploughing to relieve some stress will be fun for Geralt.

They were just using Flotsam as a size comparison. They didn't say we'd be going back there.

The voice acting is decent considering the circumstances. I mean, have you ever played the Gothic series? Even after the success of the first one PB just didn't care xD
Well, it's all part of the charm I guess
Maybe I'm just weird but I actually don't mind the voice acting in Gothic, aside from the main character saying "How're things?!" but that's less annoying and more amusing.
Yeah, I did play Gothic... well parts 2 and 3 anyway. Gothic 2 was really awesome and I'm still amazed how many sandbox-type stuff it did right... much better then many games after it, in fact. Gothic 3 was frankly a mess.... but quite playable with the community patches... and I'm still amazed by it's huge scope....
Was never bothered by the voice acting in these games... but maybe that's because, contrary to the Witcher, I never listened to the original (German in Gothic's case?) dialogue.
Also the narrative wasn't particularly strong in either of these games... well in Gothic 3 in particular, as it hardly had any story. Not that much dialogue to start with anyway.

I never understood why people did not enjoy Gothic 3. Aside from bugs (of which I hardly encountered) it was a damn fine sand-box. Much better than vanilla Oblivion anyway.

Gothic 3 had some very nice touches. Like weapon reach having major impact on combat... but then they had to mess these things and two-handed swords/axes seem to have less reach then one-handed swords...
But that orcish halberd is just uber. That farming scythe you can find in the very first village you land in was pretty sick as well (low damage, but the range!)
Also I'm not sure if it was the brightest idea to have the hero fight entire town garrisons/forts/camps, sometimes on his own... It didn't really feel natural or sensible. Now be a good boy and liberate all the captured towns (read: wipe the entire orc army which took pretty much all kingdom towns) PLUS kill the leader of the eastern assasins allied with them / or destroy all the surviving human rebels for me. Well, at least you get to really feel like the Chosen One, single handedly deciding the fate of the world with your sword.
And you get to run for 15 minutes to spread the entire army running after you into more manageable bits and pieces

Better then Oblivion, true. But that's not saying much. Oblivion was quite terrible.

Hehe, yeah, I remember getting frustrated when put into a stun-lock. It can either save your life or totally screw you over xD
Ahhh good times
Anyway, methinks we're derailing the thread. I can hear Mr. House's robots assembling outside my doorstep

Likewise. Though it all seems too good to be true a lot of the times. The ambition and scope of the project is far more than I would have ever imagined it to be.

This is one layer. Further in, sometimes, in some situations, you’ll be able to predict or judge what might have just happened. You’ll see small, simple animations showing what happened in a place. For example, if you see a body that’s been murdered somehow, with these skills you can see some of what happened – how the guy died.

Geralt, because of his knowledge of anatomy and movement and stuff, he can reconstruct the events that took place and you can see a visualization of it.

It'll be on all next gen consoles...well, as next gen as things can get. Bioware and other devs have consistently downplayed the influence CDPR has had on the industry. Just look at 'story heavy' Obsidian. They are loathe to admit CDPR even exists.

Obsidian not recognizing CDPR.
The highest compliment they've given to the TW is "good cinematics."
Yea sorry but that's crap. Even if for some reason you thought the writing of TW2 was bad (and you'd be wrong. It not interesting you is another matter), no one can deny the effort they've put on making macro CnC that significant in a game. The least they can do is recognize this and praise it.

The most they've said about CDPR is Chris Avelone's 'good cinematics' comment. That's all he could muster. Pretty weak for a supposedly epic game writer, even if his intent was to be a dick.

Unbelievable is that what CDPR can only hope for in the compliments department. I wish i remained ignorant on Obsidian's attitude towards CDPR.KnightofPhoenix wrote...
