You're forgetting, slim, that I actually liked The Witcher 1, haven't played 2 yet.

I'm not gloating, I just think it's...apt, that people who swore up and down that CDPR would never do something like that...suddenly find that CDPR is just like every other company out there.

Which people swore? It's been know for months CDPR was interested in multiplayer. There was an uproar when they hired (or looking to hire) a multiplayer programmer. This really shouldn't be a shock and I'm all for it.

Same here. I'll admit I have my worries about how it'll be implemented, but considering the steps they've taken each time to rectify errors and the dedication they've to their products, I am more than confident that they will do whatever they can. That's all I can ask from them.

What's the worst that could happen? Multiplayer in RPGs usually goes wrong because devs use SP time to develop MP. CDPR make games without the usual constraints companies like BioWare have. Of course, they will have a deadline, but nothing ridiculous like a year and a half.

TW3 began development in 2011 (I think they said shortly after TW2 was released?) That gives them three years if they're looking for a later 2014 release. Three years is plenty! And if not, I wouldn't be surprised if they stretched the release day for early 2015.

I guess he's sarcastic Slim ;)... or image of Witcher game with multiplayer is fun for him and I don't blame him about it.

But seriously multiplayer in W3?............ Anyway I want to play RPG not MMO.

Lol, yep. I won't be convinced that they're any different to other companies until they're selling as many games as BW or Bethesda and still keep up with their previous practices.

I mean, they're already backsliding on the whole "PC first" mentality. That potential green is just all up in their nostrils right now, man.

Good for them. They can't survive without that extra cash. BioWare/Bethesda have made great games with consoles stuck in there too. (KOTOR/Morrowind?)

Chances are we're going to get a solid PC version, but it sure wouldn't bother me any if they came out like Larian and Egosoft do and say, yeah, we want to do a kickass PC game.
They used to say stuff like that...

Yea I don't subscribe to PC first mentality. As long as they make it well for PC, ad not some lazy horrible port, I'm fine. My priority is on their storytelling after all.

I tend to agree with this, though I'll never buy a console. As long as the port is well done, just give me a good game.

I'm tempted to mention a series  (that's very console-centric), but it may be unpopular in here so I won't.

Did they say that it will be optimized for high end PCs/PS4?

They've said nothing about the PC version. Bragged plenty about it coming to PS4 though.

That's shocking to me. What is the general mood on the Witcher forums regarding that and the multiplayer rumors? Has CDPR even batted an eye?

Lack of PC zeal was an example, not the point.

I understand, and I agree--what matters is not their position, but the fact that they're changing their position.

A snip-bit of a nice deep long interview that will be up in a couple of days, in the VG247 site.
Nothing groundbreaking, but some things reasuring the aproach that CDP is taking for the game... and I love it. :P

"Mature subjects like racism."

Lol.

And the 36 world states sounds interesting but also rather...dangerous.

No interesting new screenshots/videos yet, right, just these "preview" articles/interviews popping up?

Imagine if they pull all of this off? Even if it isn't flawless, but just *really* good. CDPR would be gods amongst gaming.

Why lol?

It is a complex subject to handle and I think, based on TW1 and 2, that CDPR handles it in a mature fashion.

Because it's a phrase used to garner approval, not necessarily true.

Same as Bioware saying DA:O was the spiritual successor to BG, same as Obsidian plastering all of the old...Infinity Engine? games that were very popular over their P:E Kickstarter.

It's PR speak.

PR speak maybe but we've already have seen how CDPR handled racism and they do a good job. They don't shy away from mature themes why shouldn't they mention it?

They already demonstrated it to be true in 2 games.

That's fair. Regardless it's still a phrase that's used to score points, and I can't see it as being used for anything but that here. If I'd been here when Bioware introduced DA:O and mentioned BG, I would have felt the same way--and I feel the same way about P:E.

Unlike CDPR, Bioware couldn't make a game that could match even half of what made BG so great.

That's unfair, DA:O was a great game, in some aspects (a more focused narrative, fleshed out characters...) better than BG.

However, latley, this hasn't been the case, and all I can hope for is a step-up with DA3. As for CDPR, KoP is right, they've proved themselves time and time again. And from what we've seen in the interviews, I don't think we have any reason to doubt.

The word multiplayer might put people off, but keep in mind that multiplayer *can* be done right, hell, I would say ME3's multiplayer was a success, especially now that it isn't needed to get the highest EMS rating. The problem is, that multiplayer *may* take away from the SP development, but as I've said before, with CDPR, I don't think time is as big as issue as it is with BioWare.
