I like the Witcher. Its what everything Bioware was afraid to do with Dragon Age. The full nudity and sex scenes really pushes DA's plainjane appeal.

DA is the PG version of Mature, imho, despite the marketing. And I´d really like to know who thought sex in undies was a good idea. And who approved it then.

And no disrespect to Gaider and cia (although DA2 writing...well), but Sapkowski is in another league, and the game team did wonders adapting the world and characters and tone. Don´t run to the books looking for explicit sex though, Geralt is quite "active", mostly in  the tales, but things aren´t described as in ASOF&I.

Underwear wouldn't be so bad except Bioware has a strange/bizarre sense of style. If they're not going to fade to black, I'd prefer ME's tactical camera to ugly underwear and/or fully-dressed-in-bed.

Thankfully those moments are brief. I'm more excited about all the other features and eye-candy this game is going to offer, to an extent. After W2 I'm a bit wary about blur/dof, something DAO has reminded me of rather painfully. DoF works in movies because the scenes are constantly changing, but in a game where dialog pauses for response - nope.

According to the interview with Adam Kiciński [one of the CDPRs CEOs] it seems The Witcher 3 will be the most expensive Polish video game in history. The budget will be at least [or higher] 45 mln PLN [around 14.5 mln USD], but a real deal is the budget for the purpose of marketing the game. It's gonna be around 25 mln USD.

CDPR will completely cover the costs of making the game and the distributors will pay the money for marketing in return for shares in profits from the sales of each copy. Seems reasonable, I guess that's the price of independence when there is no EA/Activision/Sugar Daddy to arrange for things like that.

Source if you're interesed - it's in Polish.

14.5 million USD is still not that much for a AAA game budget.

It's amazing how effective these guys can be. Expecting them to show off an Arc Reactor any day now. :P

True. Then again costs of living/working are lower in Poland, not to mention that it's their third game. I imagine by now they got everything planned and under control - cost effectiveness is a necessity after all when you make a game on this scale

BTW, ROCHE IS BACK ! Confirmed by Marek Ziemak in this interview... Oh, and bad news.

THAT WAS NOT A MERMAID !

Does anyone think he was referring to Saskia when he said he can't talk about the dragons, because of the spoilers?
I really hope so.

Possibly. But she can't be there for everybody, which is the problem. She'd only play a bit role.

Maybe he was talking about Borch Three Jackdaws? witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Borch

He would be alive for everyone (possibly pissed, though).

What then? There are mermaids in Witcher world. One tale is in part a retelling of the clasical tale. Let´s say the witch with the shapeshifting potion is much nicer than Disney´s (still very depressing for other reasons).

He had to be; else Roche would beam his pixels into the real world and kick Polish ass.

He was confirmed in one of the early interviews.
Developers said he might not be the same person or that he has changed.

"That he is not the man he used to be" i think was a direct quote.

(small spoiler!)

I wonder if it has something to do with the books the fact that Nilfgaard betrays Sco'iatel at the end of saga.
Or he fell in love with Saskia :P

I have a question for you guys.

I'm about to head with Iorveth to see Letho. Should I do all of my quests (the nekker contract, the ghost one, the troll one) before then? This...feels like it would be the end of the first chapter.

You are close, after this mission the turning point comes when you must decide to side with Roche or Iorveth. All missions are available before that but after you made your decision this will be your last quest in Flotsam and in Chapter 1.

I've been wondering about the English VA for Yennefer. Once, I secretly hoped for Claudia Black [she would be perfect, perfeeect] but in this role she would just seem like another Morrigan. Ehh... I guess they've picked an actress already and most likely I've never even heard of her. Oh, wel...

Gonna be playing this in Polish anyway, so why do I care ? : ]

Is that a quest AFTER the Letho one? Or is it the same one? I've noticed rather frequently the main quest has a mind of its own once you start it, occasionally making you follow one of your compatriots. I don't want to go to Letho and end up closing off the first chapter.

So.. not to be the "troll" but..

I don't get the hype for this game.

After watching this trailer, I see:

-Good looking environments
-Geralt in chainmail spandex. (really?)
-Very inconclusive combat footage. I see button masher potential!
-Meh-ish plot implications. "I fight for those I hold dear" ? Cmon.

The only thing that really looked great were the environments.

After you go see Letho there are two branching main quests. Choose one and close chapter 1. Or ignore them for a while and finish the sidequests.(Finish Mystic River damn it.)

I would advise doing all the quests BEFORE going with Iorveth to meet up with Letho. You will have pick a side during it and there will be consequences. Did you get the quest with Blue Stripes ? It's inside a building near the tavern.

It's a witcher game. That's why it's got so much hype.

Same for Final Fantasy XV. Has nothing to do with the actual mechanics, or the characters, or the story, but just that it's a new final fantasy that seems to espouse a new idea causes people to go crazy with excitement.

Or a Halo game.

Alright, cool, thanks.

It still feels like the difficulty curve is a lot sharper than TW1. Encountering a group of the...the enemies that look like Rachni (enga--something) and actually trying to fight them pretty much ends in death each time. But I'll get there, eventually.

I don't think so...which building?
