Honestly I don't really care about the books. The games' writing is better, and that's all I'll use to judge by.

That's probably just as well. This story sort of runs a  "New Star Trek" type of path, borrowing from book lore but putting Geralt on a different course for the sake of the games.

Yep, the game's writters have done really well so far, using the books for details about the lore is all they need, for lesser writters sticking closer to books is more of a requirement, HBO I'm looking at you with Game of Thrones.

I thought the same untill I started reading the fan translation of Sword of Destiny. Frankly, the official english versions are crap in comparison. My only complaint is that Sapkowski is pretty sparse on descriptive details, which worked out well for CDPR.

I started reading the books after the games and when i realized what Triss is doing to Geralt i almost wanted to stab her.

Elaborate.

i didn't read books but you can realize that in game too, i tried to kill triss but i couldn't get a chance.

No, it´s not. Sapkowski is better at plot and has a very rich writing style (or at least it looks so by the pains the translator took, and from a pair of interviews I was at with the author). He also makes work things that by themselves look Wallbangers, such as the end of the saga, a one chapter long Total Party Kill, and can create charismatic characters with just a few lines.

Then CDP managed to translate that in game-form almost perfectly, but it looks like they are Triss shippers for whatever reason. Not mentioning Yenn in TW1 was forced, as Jaskier would have asked about both she and Ciri (who at least is mentioned). So in that way is like watching an adaptation of a love story and find out they switched LIs.

If anyone is interested in a really interesting summary of the plot of The Witcher stories and novels, go HERE. It's from the perspective of someone who has never read Sapkowski's books and only got into them thanks to the game. Good read.

Perhaps the sacrafice was made for the amnesia plot to work. Not even Dandelion mentions Yennefer in TW1, no?

(It's been some time since I've played, so forgive me. If not, feel free to call me a noob.)

Yennefer is not mentioned by name at all in TW1...just a blurb in the "Identity" quest where Geralt feels he deeply loved a sorceress in the past.

-TW1 Triss is Yen. Don't ask me why they did this, but I'm convinced they wrote Yen in and inserted Triss. And most people hate TW1 Triss. Which is why I think Yen could go over like a lead zeppelin in TW3.

-TW2 Triss is Triss from the books. Just how much of her deceit they carry over will tint my view of CDPR's Triss in TW3. I think they have a bomb to drop.

Depends on what Yenn they use. For all we know she has amnesia too from her time at the mercy of the WH. Yenn has far more personal issues in the tales, where their relationship is quite unhealthy for both of them, than in the saga, after meeting Ciri.

Main problem Triss may cause is that she is loyal and/or lacks backspine to oppose the Lodge. And the Lodge has plans for Ciri.

Wonder if Galahad will appear or they´ll write him off as a one night stand. I´d say Sapkowski wanted Ciri to end with him considering it happens in both the canon and non-canon endings.

This will sound stupid.
But, Yenn most likely was not mentioned in the first game is because developers didn't expect their game to be such a huge success, let alone to gather enough money to create new engine and sequel.

You can easily contradict my statement with the fact they finished TW1 on the cliffhanger, which was basically the introduction for the Assassins of Kings plot. The only reason why i am speculating about this is because of Triss.
In TW1 Triss was talking and behaving very similar to how Yennefer does in the books (ignore the seduction and their romance) but i swear if they wouldn't change her name, i would have believed that was Yenn. Just compare how much they changed Triss from TW1 to TW2.
Triss was probably taking her position in the first game.

Reds most likely wanted to create a completely different plot for Geralt. However when they realized the success of TW1, they most likely changed their minds and wanted to bring more stuff from the books, while continuing Geralt's story from TW1 which is connected with his amnesia.

I don´t see the similarities between TW1 Triss and Yennefer, both personality wise or in their goals.

And I´d say with relation to the books, TW1 follows them more closely than 2. The main plot of the first game follows one of the plots "unresolved" from the books, while in the second events go more their own way. Yes, we have the Lodge´s hunt, but also the 3rd Nilfgaardian invasion or the possible non-human nation, which are completely original to the game, especially the former.

I'm talking personality. TW1 Triss is much closer to Yen. We get to TW2 and suddenly Triss is infatuated with Geralt, girlish, a little deperate and very opaque regarding her motives.

But a force darker and deadlier emerges. The petty men and women commanding tin-plated armies fail to understand that their conflict is child's play compared to the Wild Hunt, the otherworldly threat which now looms. These ghastly spectral riders have plagued the world for ages, plunging it in misery and despair. Yet this time the Wild Hunt seeks one person in particular: the one bestowed upon Geralt by Destiny itself, the one soul Geralt considers kin.

Ciri confirmed?
Geralt and Yennifer were both victims of the Wild Hunt, it would only make sense if they will want to get Ciri as well.
Unless if this is completely new person, i don't see who else can that be. Since Wild Hunt and his army are only interested into strong and powerful people.

Obviously it's Roche.

I wonder how TW3 will handle Geralt's horse. Geralt has always called his horses Roche. It would be weird for CDPR to suddenly get rid of that tradition, but it would also be weird not knowing whenever the name Roche is mentioned it is referring to Vernon or Geralt's horse. Lol.

Actually he calls his horses Roach.
Roche is the character.
I don't know if these two names pronounce differenetly though.

There's only one way to pronounce Roach, so the spelling is irrelevant in a game with voice acting.

Naah, it's legit. It even says "Gra o Tron" in the background, which is Polish for "Game of Thrones". Besides, it's from their facebook page : ]
