Damn, the Scoia'tael artwork looks really nice, I really like the hooded ones which almost look like they're wearing a ghillie suit.

I've always loved this about the Witcher. It's the body types for males. So many fantasy games love to portray the male as some huge Conan, or a ripped Greg Pitt, when that type of body would require the prerequisite diet and exercise in order to achieve it. Geralt's body isn't anything like that, it's realistic for someone who goes through his training (which is pretty intense.) The magic would help, so would the mutations, but overall you'd get a very lean, yet slightly muscular body.

Look at these elves. They're the same: lean, lithe, and muscular. Hell, I'd say they should be thinner due to conditions of their survival, but hey, who knows, Elven anatomy might be very different. Genetics do play a big part too.

They went a bit overboard with Letho's arms though:

It isn't impossible for a man to have arms like that - I mean bodybuilders and such, though now that I look at them closely they are a little exaggerated. I guess that was a design choice. Letho was supposed to look like a simpleton, one that people [and we] could easily underestimate.

I really like what they've done with him - how he played almost everyone.

He was the chess master. One of the best antagonists in any game. Period.

With proper dieting. Unless Letho can constantly maintain thousands of calories and the right amount of macros each day, I don't think he'll gain that naturally, not in that world anyway xD

He is a Witcher though. I blame it on the mutations. Just like Geralt's hair. I love it when games and movies use their visuals to tell a story rather than revolve their story around it.

Letho's appearence is just that.

^ You don't know that simfam. Besides, Letho outright tells you that "he knows how he looks" and points out that people tend to assume things about him based on his apperance alone.

Anyway. New informations ! Well... old, but still. From this video - it's in Polish.
  • Game looks amazing in motion. They said it's the prettiest video game that they've ever seen. Screenshots and even the gameplay trailer do not do the game justice - it looks even better. They were particurarly impressed with the graphical effect of the signs - Igni looks stunning. The draw distance is amazing as well, game has an unseen scope. When Geralt entered the forest you could see the wind affecting the trees and grass.
  • They said that they are taking many clues from the Gothic series of games. Some monsters will be simply too difficult for you and you will have to "grow up" to face them. Yeah, that's sounds very like Gothic to me - try those games guys, if you're looking for old-rpgs to play!
  • Marek Ziemak said that they want people who play the Witcher 3 to deviate from the main quest and go explore the world. That's why they focus on making the world interesing [there will be points of interest, place that just attract your attention and make you feel like going there].

A little shot of Geralt from the new trailer. Cannot wait for the bloody thing :P Gamescom is finally upon us, so they will probably release it soon.

Wait... I'm not sure about what I don't know about xD

Good. Nothing quite breaks immersion from open world games than sucky draw distances.

They said that they are taking many clues from the Gothic series of games

This is why I love the Polish. They understand that open world RPGs existed BEFORE Skyrim.

Marek Ziemak said that they want people who play the Witcher 3 to deviate from the main quest and go explore the world. That's why they focus on making the world interesing

From any other company I would say "hmmm... I hope they're not going to put too much focus on exploring rather than the narrative." But I have faith in CDPR.

Open world games have existed on PC since Ultima, with Ultima IV basically establishing the grid formula (big world map but only a small portion of it loaded into memory, updating as you moved around) used in modern TES and Fallout games.

I have the Gothic games but still need to play them. Was a recent acquisition.

Started Witcher 2 last night with my imported Geralt. So far so good. Glad to hear about the draw distance; awful tired of console hamstrings on my PC games.

Update: had to reload several times to get that artillery shot off, stupid 3 degrees everywhere I pointed.

I meant your "His apperance is just that" simfam - I mean I agree with you about mutation affecting his body physique [it's a plausible explanation], but it was still a design choice [one that was supposed to fool us] not just something they did on a whim. But perhaps you meant just that :P

Endurium, why would you bother with the ballista shot ? You get to kill Count Etcheverry one way or another.

Because it was one of those things that would bother me unless I succeeded, especially with King Foltest standing right there. Fortunately I remembered where to save for quick retries, but still. Geralt sucks with a spyglass.

Did they say what the countdown is to?

I love the atmosphere in week 9. It's an awesome shot.

It's the trailer. Aga Szostak, their PR Specialist hinted that pretty strongly on twitter. And we all know that the phrase "killing monsters" appears in the CGI trailer.

I hope we can make it into a 5 o'clock shadow. I prefer those. ;)

Edit: Actually, never mind. It suits him well.
