If I could read Polish, I would tell you. I heard the translations are alright.

That's actually another thing that I wanted to ask, because I went to buy them in english but the guy at the store told me that the English translation is rather poor.

For the most part, the fan translations are much better. Especially Sword of Destiny. You can DL them on the Witcher forums.

I read the first two books in Dutch. I found the first one most enjoyable, with all the fairytales with a twist. The second one (Sword of Destiny) did not impress me very much and was not very interesting or entertaining as far as I was concerned, so I don't really recommend it.

I did enjoy playing TW1 after reading the first book. There are a few references in the game you only understand when you know the book as well.

It might of if they didn't have that close to yearly release cycle.

*facepalm*

Maybe there'll be an entry point or city gate that masks loading times. I wonder about the number of buildings we'll get to enter. Novigrad looks enormous so I don't expect every building, but knowing CDPR we'll probably have plenty of interiors/sewers/crypts to explore.

Hmm...trying to remember...TW2 had less than TW, didn't it. So I wouldn't be surprised at less...though it's perfectly understandable, on a city scale.

Depends on your definition of good, though. If you're not really interested in nonhumans vs. humans and a certain monster, I'm not sure it's ALL that much better.

In my opinion the part in FULL Vizima (when you begin the Vizima part you're locked out of part of it) is some of the best, the politics of it. Much better than the politics of TW2 IMO, because it felt more like an investigation.

Yes, yes, racism that's fantastic and also inevitably the premise of every fantasy game ever made ever. But it's also basically one of the main aspects of Witcher 2, aside from Geralt's own hidden agenda and I like that game. Witcher 1's pacing so far has been frustratingly boring, not to mention the combat sucks a rusty fire hydrant and I need something to balance that out. The political aspect suits me just fine, I like the shades of gray but right now the game has so far played like a MMORPURGER, fetching 15 mushrooms for that bloke etc etc. Nothing of real interest has occured of all the time I've played so I gave up for now and played something else. I'll return to the game since I feel like doing some more and Shani is the first female character in the Witcher series, who doesn't have the personality of a cardboard cut-out, which Geralt will then stick his nob in. So I'm intrigued still.

Don't be deceived--Geralt has plenty of opportunity to stick his knob inside her. If you can get inside her house, heh heh. There's a vicious attack dog blocking the way...

But I understand what you mean. The beginning is really, REALLY tough to get into. Once you get into Vizima it gets a little better, and once you get to Triss' house it gets a lot better. Where are you at right now? Got past Abigail? Into Vizima?

Don't think I've gotten into Vizima yet. I've mostly run around this small countryside near the inn to search for some woman from the bar, whom supposedly will get attacked, so I need to find out where to find her - I always try to do all side quests I can like in Witcher 2.

Give her some wine when you find her.

Edit: Oops, just go outside when it gets dark.

Very much so in fact. However to enjoy the saga to the full, you'd better read it either in Polish or Russian. There are a lot of elements taken from Slavic mythology, so it's nice to do some folklore reading.

Yeah that's the most tedious part, IMO. Takes some slogging through.

Chapter II starts off bad too, if you ask me. However it gets real good at the middle, especially when doing the main quest. I hated going to the swamp, its the most dreadful place ever.

As much as I enjoyed Vizima as a setting, the chapter in Murky Waters was probably the most refreshing chapter in the game for me. Dat atmosphere.

Still love walking into the fields with that eerie ass tune and noonwraiths wandering around.

This^  Best part of the game for me.

Well and chapter four and five, to be exact.

I didn't think the beginning was bad. However, the part where you have to find all the Sephirot stones (I'm there now) is rather tedious.

I don't know I found the start rather uneventful, but really the thing I liked the least was going to the swamp. That place is just so boring.

Chapter 4 was a brilliant move by the writers, a risky one too. Allow the plot to slow down, breathe a bit. Let the player solve a few easy, almost relaxing quests. By the end of it though, chaos breaks out again and you're back into the thick of things, ready for the finale. I haven't played any other story heavy game that tries this.

I do tend to get killed by Giant Centipedes at least once every game, though.:lol: Those things are nasty, especially when they attack in a group.

At first I was kind of confused that they threw me away from the main plot, but after spending enough time in Murky Waters, it got really good. I was especially fond of the ending, how it was inevitable that the conflict would eventually reach Geralt no matter where he went. The Scoia'Tael really managed to make themselves look bad in that scenario, kidnapping the villagers that helped them out when they were in need.

This is a pretty hefty delay, considering CDPR was just saying they were going to announce the release date back in January. Frankly, I don't mind the wait. I will need a new GPU for TW3 and I was worried the game was going to come out before the Nvidia Maxwell series.

Yeah, more time to hoard cash for the Collector's Edition and RAM.
