I need a good PC. The one I have right now is crap.

Eh, I don't mind. I loved TW2, so I'd rather they delay and address any lingering issues rather than do an EA and rush it out like BF4 and then go "it doesn't meet our expectations"
shocking, even thought they knew they hadn't tested the damn thing it was so broken on release!

I SO want to play The Witcher. However, I do not own a xbox (and I don´t want to buy one), and I hate starting a series halfway. Is there any chance for all the games being released on PS3/Ps4?

There's always a chance on PS4 but do not expect it and do certainly not expect Witcher 1 on consoles at all anymore, it was on the other hand in development for Xbox 360 with some combat changes and other improvements but was cancelled due to CD Projekt having bad economy while making Witcher 2 and the outsourcing was apparently problematic too, it still can happen in form of a Witcher Collection Edition in the future but still unlikely.

But Witcher 2 is avaiable for PS3, right? And the third game will be released on Ps4. Is it the end of the world not to play the first installment? Will I miss significant story/characterdevelopment?

No Witcher 2 is not available for PS3 only Xbox 360 and as far as i gathered CD Projekt wouldn't be able to deliver the experience they wanted if they focused on three platforms,
First PS3 was known to be hard to develop for but the main contributor to why there's no PS3 version is that they simply didn't have a big enough team to make it for both at that point, Witcher 3 team is a LOT bigger so that's why it's on all next gen platforms, budget most likely had something to do with it too.
You will miss a bit of the story of the first if you have not playing but watching a let's play or reading backstory on it can easily bring you up tp speed with the events.

I personally liked the first game more than the second and I would recommend it to anyone with a capable PC.
But no, to understand The Witcher 2 you don't need The Witcher 1.
The same might possibly be true for The Witcher 3, but it's difficult to say now. I'd recommend to at least read the story online, though. The Wild Hunt is a theme in both TW1 and TW2.

Nope, I talked to some of the staff via email at GoG/ CDPR, they didn't have any information on whether the PS4 would see TW2, it might, given that it's a lot easier to develop for and the shift to digital downloading on the psn would facilitate that, but I think if we do see it, it'd be after TW3 and Cyberpunk. So you're looking at 2016 release at the earliest of it does happen.
You don't need TW1 to understand TW2 though,I didn't play Tw1 before I picked up TW2 and I had no trouble, the codex fills in a lot of detail and explains the characters very well, previous events etc. and the prologue explains what's going on, so you really don't miss anything. I expect the same with TW3, don't worry about it.

Chapter II starts off bad too, if you ask me. However it gets real good at the middle, especially when doing the main quest. I hated going to the swamp, its the most dreadful place ever.

Yeah, you certainly don't need to play TW1 to understand TW2 at all, plus there isn't much that gets transferred, but if you have, you do notice quite a few little things that make up for it, but by no means is it "needed" - it just feels like a better, more complete experience for me personally.

I prefer playing all the games. Ill just wait and see then... Maybe I can borrow someones Xbox or something. Thanks for the feedback. Lets hope for a future PS3/4 release. That would be perfect.

Its very unlikely that TW1 will be re-released on ps4 or any other platforms. It is a pretty old game, from 2007. You are right to not want to skip any entries into the series, as I skipped TW1 and played TW2. It was okay, but I missed a lot of important content. Then I played TW1 and replayed TW2 and I realized how much I missed without having played TW1.
TW1 in general is a good game, but it is very flawed and dated game. The only reason I'd really recommend anyone play it is so they can better understand and appreciate TW2 and TW3. I hope you get to check out the games, TW1 is good, but TW2 is a modern masterpiece of RPGs. And expectations are even higher for TW3.

huuuuuuuuh
I'm having doubts as to how open it'll actually be with so much terrain - and more importantly, how much content will it have to justify such a size

We're debating the real game implications of this at CDPR forums. I still doubt it'll actually be 3.5 times bigger than Skyrim. I don't want it that big. Also, Griffin:
