I just found this and am very supprised about it since, JJ declined to direct back in November. I had my hopes up for Peter Jackson, but seeing what JJ has done over the last 10 years (Lost, MI3, and the new Star Trek films) I have faith. Discuss.

Well, I guess he's ready to be the most hated man in the world.

It will be real interesting to see how this pans out, since JJ and his production company Bad Robot have been working with Paramount for awhile now and seeing Lucasfilm is now part of Disney. In addition to that you have the same guy who did Star Trek doing Star Wars, which will spark something to say the least. Also will we be seeing lens flare lightsabers? Again I have faith that this will turn out great. Again maybe they can get Peter Jackson to do VIII or IX, that would be great!

That.was......INCREDIBLE!!!! Thanks for sharing this Skelter.

As for JJ Abrams directing Star Wars VII...well, it could be worse, a lot worse.

Great video though. If only this was the direction the new Star Wars was taking, then I think it might put a lot of fans minds at ease. That bass opening though...sick!

I really hope that they land up basing the new trilogy on The Thrawn Trilogy. I remember reading those novels and really wishing that they would adapt it. For those of you who enjoy Star Wars and aren't currently reading anything, I'd recommend them, as they are really well written. Anyways, lets hope that the new trilogy will be as amazing as the old trilogy!

That was a great link!

On topic: if Lucas still has significant input, Abrams won't make much of a difference.

Lucas is on as a "creative consultant." From the look of it, he is only going to have limited input on the story. The new CEO for Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy ( she is also producing the films) will have a say in what happens. She has a pretty good track reccord and has some history with Lucas, working on the Indiana Jones films and ET. I'm sure she will allow JJ to do his own thing while keeping true to what Star Wars really is.

I'll just paste a great quote from twitter I read when this was announced.

"My idealistic hope is that since this is Lucas-free, the new Star Wars movies can be about more than paying homage to itself since 1983. Abrams also isn’t a nerd, and that’s important. We’re guaranteed to not have a Star Wars movie that feels like SW fanfic (like the prequels)."

Pretty much how I feel. I for one am hopeful.

So do you guys think that they will bring back Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher to reprise their roles as Luke, Han, and Leia?
