My favourite Roman Emperors were:

Augustus, the founder of the Roman Empire, a brilliant politician and his rule was one the most peaceful and prosperous in Roman history.

Nero, an intelligent and educated emperor who liked persecuting christians and after the great fire of Rome one third of the land that was destroyed was rebuilt in brick.

Trajan, a brilliant military leader who managed to expand the Roman Empire to its greatest extent.

The emperor I dislike the most is:

Constantine, the first emperor to convert to christianity even if done for political reasons.

Nero? I've heard some strange tales about him. He married some castrated young boy as his literal wife. This child was apparently a "splitting resemblance" to his pregnant wife Sabina that he had murdered.

His scandalous life aside and he was pretty much a **** uninteresting emperor who burned down Rome because he couldn't handle the mess he was in. He went down in history as the first Roman emperor to commit suicide. Even Titus who served as emperor for two years achieved more than Nero did in a life-time.

RIP in pieces you c*** Nero. Constantine the GREAT will forever be better than you and more successful too (having defeated two emperors in battle and changing Rome forever whereupon his legacy outlasted generations)

Conclusion:

Constantine, Caesar (dictator not emperor I know but still), Titus, Augustus and Batman are my favorites. Batman is the best out of them all though and he was an emperor despite claims otherwise. Although before that he was a Pharaoh but quit because Egypt was too hot for him.

Uh, I'd say the last, Konstantinos XI Palaiologos. Even when faced with impossible odds he decided to fight till the end like a true warrior. Alexios I is also one of my favorite emperors for halting the decline of the empire.

I don't really care much for rome's pagan rulers, and well, it's western half.

Lol, someone's a christian. About him having burned down Rome, those are rumors... but if they are true he did it most likely for "rational" reasons, he's not Caligula the mad emperor after all.

Well I could have said "Lol someone's an atheist" in response to your dislike of Constantine. You hated him for being the first emperor to convert to Christianity (even if only done for political reasons) and ignored his great achievements and legacy.

This isn't about Nero's persecution of Christians. He just never achieved anything that truly changed Rome (well other than burning it down!) and failed in his duties too. Titus achieved more in two years. Nero was a fool playing emperor and abused his position.

Edit:

Then again this is a thread about one's personal favourite emperor/emperors so I guess anything goes. If it was a thread about the GREATEST emperor, well you know, Constantine would be at the top. It's in the name: Constantine the GREAT.

Constantinople would like a word with you as you watch the last legacy of Nero (Sporus) end his life to avoid playing the title role in the play of the Rape of Persephone.

Poor old Nero. Had no chance in history comparing against Constantine the GREAT (you hear that? GREAT, GREAT, GREAT) .

Favorites: Augustus, Trajan, Marcus Aurelius, Antoninus Pius, Septimius Severus, Diocletian, Constantine I.

Least favorites: Nero ('moron'), Commodus

Also Constantine wasn't the reason of fall of Roman Empire. Surprisingly I like the Orthodox Byzantine Empire more than Roman Empire itself.

'Seneca' would be the greatest Roman Emperor if he was emperor instead of 'Nero'.

I find this Anti-Constantine trend in this thread pathetic (says a non-christian).

My favourite is Caligula, you can't beat telling your army to build an arch out of sea shells and putting your favourite horse in parliament. 199 senators, 1 horse. He also had 4000 ships tied together so he could create a floating causeway to prove a fortune teller wrong, he also built a brothel in the imperial palace - he was a fun kind of emperor, so long as you weren't Christian or rich.

Well, I guess Caesar was a pretty good emperor, but I still can't believe he lit poor Graham on fire and threw him into the canyon. What an a-hole.
