Wow...thanks mom!  You make a habit out of telling people how they should live their personal lives and nosing into other people's business?

Hey, you're the one who posted here in a public forum.  If you don't want opinions on the subject, don't start such an idiotic thread, unless, of course, your intention is to just troll anyone who disagrees with you.  I'm passing on some friendly advice as someone who's been a 20-something who had to learn responsibility just like you apparently need to.

You think I care about this crappy corporate job enough to be concerned with the morals behind faking my illness?  Hell no!  I'm not curing cancer, or fighting aids here.  I'm helping a bunch of rich a-holes get richer.  My paycheck is all that matters to me and the ends justify the means.

I know you don't care about your crappy little job.  You wouldn't be posting such an irresponsible question like 'how can I fake an illness cause I wanna sit on my lazy arse at home and play Dragon Age some more'  if you cared about your crappy little job.  You can justify it all you want in your head, but it doesn't make lying right, nor would you be this defensive if you didn't also know it was wrong.  However, it's not my paycheck or career--you're the one who gets to live with the consequences.  Obviously your boss has you figured out already since she peers over your shoulder frequently and didn't believe your swine flu saga.

If you don't like that, then shove off.

Oh, my.  I'm so frightened, nay, horrified, that you would say such a thing.  I think I'll tuck my little bunny-tail under my bottom and run off in abject terror.  See me quaking in my boots?  I thought so.

Wow, people have some strong opinions on skipping work. Is it really such a high crime not to want to work on a Saturday?

If I weren't a straight female I'd take you up on that offer. :innocent:

@outlaworacle--I have no problems griping about having to work on Saturdays--I've had my days where I just didn't want to go into work.  Lying to get out of it is what I take issue with.  Thread on weekend work suckness?  I'll join you all for an ale and trade bad boss stories with you.

Relax. There's no need to feel so insulted.

Anyway OP, I hear that keeping onions in your armpits and going to sleep will give you a fake fever. Try it now.

It depends on the job he signed up for.

If he signed up knowing that working Saturdays is part of it, and they get paid for it, then yes.

If the job isn't suposed to involve saturdays and they wont get paid extra for it, then they should just say "No", rather than faking an illness.

The world will walk all over you if you let it.

I know...maybe even paint litle red dots on his face and say he has the measles.

thats a great idea. come here honey, mommy will fix you up.

Cool, while you're at it tell them I occasionally foam at the mouth.  That might keep my supervisor from peeking over my desk while I use customer's computers to fool around on the internet.

That is sickening. Not only to you attempt to cheat and misuse the trust of your peers, but you disregard the respect you should show towards other people's belongings. I am only 16 and I already feel like I am more mature than you are. How dare you?

People trust you as a technician to fix their computers, not use them to post questions on how to cheat your company on a game forum!

I am just sickened.

That's true, I guess it's just been my experience that if I don't lie, I'd never get a day off :D My boss calls me on almost all of my days off because we are so short staffed. When it's not too much of a hassle I always come in because I know they're lightly f'd if no one else can cover it. Sometimes I need the time though, but rather than tell my boss "no, i need to stay home and organize my sega genesis cartridges" I'll lie about having some important to do.

I do pay rent, I have a job and I do make my own meals as well as buy my clothes. Seriously though who at 16 let's their parents choose their clothes? Also I have 5 siblings and both my parents are 50+ on a pension and have a hard time cooking and cleaning etc. Granted I do spend a lot of time with my parents and they have sheltered me from most of the harsh things in the world, but also I am more independent than most of the people at my age are that I know of, I am not spoilt if that is what I sound like, and I am in no way saying trying to get out of work so that you can manage your house is a bad thing, I am just saying how disgusting it is that he takes advantage of his job and uses other people's property to post things on forums.

Edit: I made a spelling mistake, my apoligies :)

Why thank you, but you did not do anything wrong, I think my original post did seem more like something a spoilt teenager would write than something a mature teenager would write, so there is no need to feel bad :)
