Here is how to enable the developer console in-game and all the
goodness (so far) that you can partake, from adding gold to breaking
the party limit.

Source: All credit for this goes to the community at Gamefaqs and particularly to this thread at the Gamefaqs forums

First
create a shortcut to the game .exe and add -enabledeveloperconsole to
the shortcut command line. Ex:
C:\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\Games\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\Dragon
Age\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\bin_ship\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\daorigins.exe"
-enabledeveloperconsole

Note for Steam users:
You can create a shortcut to the game .exe going to the My Games tab
and right-clicking  and selecting create shortcut to desktop on the
Dragon Age game.

Ingame press the ~ key to access the console where you can input the following commands:

GAMEPLAY

runscript addxp X  / X= desired amount of experience

runscript pc_immortal / Player can't be killed, tho your hitpoint will go down to 0 but you wont die.

runscript killallhostiles / Kills all hostile npc's

runscript zz_pre_demo2 / Teleports player and party to Ostagar

runscript zz_pre_strategy / Teleports player and party to Duncan's fire in Ostagar

runscript zz_talk_nearest  / Talk to nearest NPC

runscript SetPlayerImmortal  / Same as pc_immortal

runscript healplayer / Heals player - party

runscript cheat - Inspired: Major Cunning / Adds 30 armor and 100 defense to Party for 120 seconds

NPC / PARTY

runscript zz_addparty NPCname / Add party member by name

runscript zz_addapproval X XX / Add to a companion approval rating, the first  X = companion(companion number as seen on table),  XX = Amount i.e r

1 - Alistair
3 - Morrigan
5 - Shale
6 - Sten
7 - Zevran
9 - Eiliana

Ex: runscript zz_addapproval 1 100 / adds 100 Alistair approval

runscript ai off / Turns off AI

runscript selectparty  / Party selection screen

runscript chargen  / Origin screen

runscript zz_addparty / Allows the player to break the party companion limit.

Note to player:
This method presents some limitations, namely the added companion
portraits dont show up on left side of the screen for selection, apart
from this fact, everything else is available to the companions i.e
inventory, skills, etc. Companion banter is yet to be confirmed as working with all added companions.

runscript zz_dropparty / Removes entire party

ITEMS / INVENTORY

runscript zz_party_addgifts / Adds the following gifts to inventory:
-Antivan Leather Boots
-Dalish Gloves
-Alistair's Mother's Amulet
-Duncan's Shield
-Andraste's Grace
-Cute Nug
-Golden Mirror
-Black Grimoire
-Flemeth's Grimoire
-Sten's Sword

runscript zz_givearmor / Adds Dragonbone Legion Armor to inventory

runscript zz_money X  / X=desired amount of copper coins, i.e. for 100 gold  value would be 1000000

class

runscript warrior / Changes player class to Warrior

runscript rogue / Changes player class to Rouge

runscript wizard / Changes player class to Wizard

Thanks for the great work on the console commands. But did anyone ever find out if this disables achievements or has consequences of some sort? I'd really like to redistribute my talents, to fix my mistakes at the early levels. And honestly some gold, or more inventory space, would be wonderful too.

I have made a few changes talent wise and i dont think it broke any of the achievements. Sorry for the messed up posts detailing the latest commands, but it seems the forum is having some problems.

Won't work for me. I wonder if it's because i'm using Vista?

There is no program file named daorigins.exe but rather daoriginslauncher-mce. Even if I replace the -mce in the target command (under properties) or add after it, it doesn't create the console in game (doesn't freeze or do anything, just nothing happens).

Anyone have any ideas? That expensive axe at camp is looking good :P.

I found a daorigins.exe file in the "bin_ship" folder. I assume this is the one to change, but haven't tried it yet.

It shows up in your achievements. On a lark added as much xp as I could to see what level it would take me too (turns out its 25). I hit the level up button and added talents etc that way, and started seeing I was earning acheivements. I didn't save my game, but the achievements were unlocked and I think they show up in my profile now.

On_Slaught: You need to open the bin_ship folder. daorigins is the game executable, so either you have that, or you can't play the game:)

Fuzzyjon: That's the one.

With the toolset finally available, we can see all of the debug stuff, and there is A LOT more. I'm going to check it out for a bit, see if there is anything else of particular interest.

runscript zz_upgrade ( Opens the Item Upgrade/Enchantment window. )
runscript appearance # ( Changes active characters appearance based on the number:
Human=15, Elf=2, Hurlock=16
Dog=34, Rat=41, StoneGolem=6, Broodmother=10, Ogre=47
Note that the broodmother can not move. Not sure if any other numbers would work. Have tried a couple at random and nothing so far. )

Have quite a few others that seem interesting, but still gotta figure out what they do:)

Update: The IDs come from APR_base.xls and the valid options are 1-89, except: 0,1,48,56,83
Most large models don't allow you to move. Such as the high dragon and arch demon.

runscript zz_addparty NPCname / Add party member by name

Having a bit of trouble getting this one to work.  Is it supposed to be runscript zz_addparty Sten, runscript zz_addparty NPCSten, runscript zz_addparty NPCname Sten or something else?

I was tresting out the immortal cheats to see if they worked.

Player one works it set its to player immortal: 1 and stays that way even through saves and reboots. So you don't have to keep typing it in.

Now with the setplayer one that just brings up 4 lines of junk script on my screen and does nothing ease.

Do I have to type SetAlistairImmortal or or have the player target and Type SetPlayer or what?

Are there codes for the attributes? I imagine it's something similar to the 'addxp' command. addSTR, addStrength, or addSTRENGTH maybe? I'd test it and get back to you but I have a 4 year old running around like a maniac. I don't think he's grasped the fact that if he jumps off a couch and lands the wrong way he's going to get hurt. No heal spell if that happens :)

Hmm... well, I'd like to use the console. But I'd rather know if I can still earn the unlocks first.

Has anyone managed to get any of the achievements after using the console?

It seemed to me after trying the console that my online account didn't update my characters achievements.  So, I tried using the console to add something, saving my game, and then going back to the regular launcher.  Worked just fine.  I still had what I did in the console, and my game was uploading as it should.  That's what worked for me.

No it does not disable acheivements on your end.. I have no idea if it will mess up-up loading to the website.  But if you add a bunch of xp and then take a full skill tree to the top you'll get the achievements for completing that skill tree.

I wouldn't suggest using any of these with your main first go through character..  It's always fun to have a cheaty charcater but if your looking to just re-destribute points on a character build that you want to keep playing it could mess up the character forcing you to have to restart.  If you just want more money or to change your stats or add more skill points... just download something like ArtMoney.. and use that.

Okay, I added -enabledeveloperconsole to the end of my shortcut command line, but when I hit ` ingame, nothing happens. I know people say it's invisible and just to type in the cammand you want, but when testing it by hitting my C key, the character window still comes up.

No matter what I do after hitting `, the game continues as normal.

When you hit ~, start typing something. You should get a bunch of characters appearing at the top of the screen (at least I do). That's the only cue I've seen that it's working. (That and whatever change I've requested being implemented.)
