I don't play plat on that thing, it's enough getting carried through gold with that handicap. If I would've recorded that, the notebook would've blown up in my face, I'm convinced.

They're different weapons.

The Typhoon is much better at close range because you don't need to wait as long to deal maximum damage. It's also better if you're staying in one spot. You'll be shooting 90% of the time while that number would be something like 70% with a PPR.

Also, last time I checked the Typhoon did do more damage if every shot lands on target. It was a long time ago though.

And I sometimes have trouble aiming with the PPR, can't really see what's going because of that huge laser. Maybe it's just me though.

And more importantly, the Typhoon is not a toy.

I fully agree on this. The Typhoon is a niche gun, and I honestly don't see why it should become an all-around wonderful gun.

Maybe just so that BSN has another gun to make nerf threads about other than the harrier...

On Plat, I used it with a Kroldier. Granted, inferno nades might have helped, but I was happy with the Typhoon's performance. Do people forget about the damage multiplier?

When comparing the ppr to the typhoon note that the Oct 24 nerf to devasator mode targeted the ppr more than anything - magazine size reduced 25% ( rate of fire only got nerfed 10% ). I made a video months ago trying to take down a gold atlas on xbox in one clip with typhoon X ( using same setup as pc guys ) and it always left a few bars of armor. After all these changes I will try to duplicate the to's results on Xbox on gold if anyone is interested ( would have to respec the destroyer because for ppr I go all upper row on devasator mode ). Hopefully my friends will help me again by letting me solo a few atlases, lol.

btw, i do use the typhoon on platinum with my krogan sentinel, so it is a good weapon, but not as good as the ppr, IMO.

You should use AP IV. The difference is seriously HUGE on the typhoon. You should never be under 90% armor penetration with it.

Either extended mag + extended barrel with AP IV 

Or extended mag + High Velocity Barrel with Warp Ammo.

Otherwise you lose too much damage.

That's probably why so many people think it sucks. They just don't know what type of mods/ammo they should use.

For all those compaining about low level Typhoon damage... I was using a Typhoon III last night in Plat with only AP III ammo and was able to keep up with the other 3 really good players. (Been playing on a friends account, helping him through Rare manifest grind).

The gun is pretty decent at low level IMO.... only thing is it MUST have AP of some kind.

look at this build. you should do 175.86(or 270.04 when ramped up) vs gold armor for 52 shots (AR duration 5.2 seconds and 10 rounds per second RoF), that is 14'042.08 damage. include some headshots and you get even more. that is more hp than a brute has on gold. please try it again and make absolutely sure you hit, cause a brute should go down within the duration of AR if every bullet hits.

Edit: made a mistake, actually, give me a sec.

Edit: It's actually 263.79 vs armor when ramped up, giving >13k damage within AR duration, should work too.

I'm a console player... and I say it works great.

I also say... alot of BSN is probably doing it wrong/has poor aim.

The point Feneckus makes about people not knowing how to properly set it up is probably on point.

I play on Xbox, and as Feneckus pointed out, AP ammo is your friend. Hell, the Hurricane can rip an Atlas to shreds too at close range if you keep tagging the canopy or crotch. Typhoon works good for me. Got it at X.

When the brute puts his hand over his face... he gets significant damage reduction, enough to significantly impact the Typhoons DPS.

I know what ammo and mods to use, PLUS the HSol was getting a 70% damage boost, and AP3 is still nothing bad, the armour isn't the problem though, the SHIELDS don't drop that quickly on 360 from what I have found. I can't explain it, and sadly, I can't record anything. :(

Don't get me wrong, I KNOW it's a great weapon, but I just can't seem to make it as effective as the PPR. Maybe it is just a personal preference thing, but I would take the PPR over the Typhoon, even if they were the same level.

Being a GIANT LAZOR BEEM might help for the cool factor though... :lol:

To some extent... yes.

Every player on xbox I know/respect at least knows the Typhoon can deal massive damage... even if they don't like the weapon. The people saying it doesn't do enough damage are obviously doing something wrong... because it does incredible damage.

Not setting it up with the proper mods/consumables kills it. Also... I think people miss alot more than they think b/c of the way hit markers fade away and all the graphics from the Devastator Mode overlay.

Put it in somethings face at point blank range where you don't miss a single bullet and have AT LEAST AP III ammo on it... then get back to me.

Not fully understanding the game mechanics and not knowing that you must have 90% AP on the Typhoon =/= being a scrub. I agree with mega.

I personally doubt that everybody hits - e.g. - a Banshee's head that consistently, no matter which platform. It certainly isn't easier with a controller than it is with a mouse.

It's Phantom level DR I think. Ridiculous. Even with piercing a Javelin shot will do less than one bar of armour if you shoot thru a Brute's arm.

That's b/c with AP ammo you get no bonuses vs shields... so they take forever. Nothing you can do about that except pack an Acolyte/Reegar.

When you use Warp rounds... barriers get shredded as well as armor.

It makes my Javelin w/ Phasic ammo a joke... but the Warp ammo still takes a respectable chunk off of him.
