I doubt even the Protheans would possess the technology capable of sustaining 50,000 years of power. As the number of individuals to be retained via stasis goes up, so do the power requirements, as evidenced by Ilos. So again I ask, how is this feasible, even for a small amount of Protheans. The only species to possess the tech necessary to accomplish this would be the Reapers and/or the Leviathans.

So BW should retconn the eradication for 4 Protheans, while simultaneously making Javik less unique?

If stasis for 50k years is so impossible, how the flying frakk did Javik survive?

He is one body to preserve. Less bodies is less power.  It was a stretch to even accept him surviving honestly. The Protheans would have had no way to harness Reaper tech to provide this power, as their first encounter with them was likely during the beginning of their eradication. The Leviathans seem to not give a flip about any species but themselves..would they be inclined to provide this tech?

I like Javik as much as the next guy, but for BW to believably accompish such a feat and explain it properly without devaluing years of established lore, would be like walking a glass tightrope.

The Protheans would be more like Communist China really.

It's Biowares choice really, I wouldn't play them but I see no harm in adding them. Just make up a little story about how another bunker survived and was discovered, sprinkle it with a little space magic :wizard:...done.

Yeah it is all up to Bioware. They would have to be the ones to retconn it and accept the potential fallout for it. One thing I can say, is that I really, really, really wish that BW would just make an official statement on their postion about this entire argument once and for all.

I would like to point out that they were barely able to preserve a small group of scientists for a couple hundred years, and Ilos was one of their most advanced research facilities with the best technology they had. Javik was one stasis pod. It's a little unbelievable that they, even if more survived, that it would even be more than a hundred.

Well, they did survive the cycle, but I'm not sure when they actually got in the pods.

1 Prothean survived the cycle. 1.  They only survived the initial Reaper genocide, their asses were thourougly good and whipped by the time Humanity achieved FTL space travel.

Errr.... Yeah, cycle was the wrong word sorry.

Harvest then. They survived the harvest, which took hundreds of years itself

Two words "Time Travel" brahahaha problem solved.

A mass effect relay flung a Prothean Cruiser to close to a supernova. Tried and true sc-fi method of time travel.

What’s interesting to me is that it seems like the majority of people against Protheans in MP are so against because it messes up lore in SP. The reason I think this is interesting, is because I’ve never cared too much about lore in multiplayer. I say this because I already think MP is a little more loose with lore than SP (the N7 characters, the plethora of Justicars, the Cerberus defectors, fighting the Collectors faction, and just the general level of power the characters have), so the idea of a few Protheans running around in MP doesn’t bother me. I mean, Shepard, the galaxy’s ultimate badass, is underpowered compared to a lot of the kits in MP, but we know that’s just for MP balancing reasons. Either way, I feel like as long as there is a decent reason for finding a few Protheans alive (maybe the same thing that happened to Javik happened to 3 other protheans across multiple galaxies?), it doesn’t hurt SP lore any more than any of the other things already in MP.

Volus characters being among the tankiest characters in the game? Hell, that’s pretty crazy.

I love the lore. That said, MP makes it seem like you have an effect on the game. You don't.

So that breaks that argument.

MP is non-canon as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not really a lore lover but I wouldn't even be playing with them 24/7. Sure they'd be fun, but they'll just be the same as Volus, Batarian, Human, Turian, Quarian, Vorcha, Drell, Salarian, Geth and Asari Kits. I play them because the kit is fun, not because they have a cool voice and poop Green Shift rather than Blue Shift.

Indeed, but the stubborn will remain stubborn. But alas, when Prothean return, they will rage and rage like children in a tantrum. In a week  the rage will end. Just as it was with the lore-breaking tankier than Krogan Volus, so it will be for the lore-friendly Prothean squad!

For the Empire!

No I wouldn't. Protheans in multiplayer would be the one thing that would stop me from playing multiplayer and would heavily damage my enjoyment of ME3. If Bioware decided that they don't care about the universe anymore then I would lose all interest in the now pointless MP. It's really, really, not worth sacrificing the story and such a massive part of the universe just for some character skins, it would show that they just don't care about Mass Effect anymore, and frankly either would I.

Shepard has 8 powers and can do insane things like Dominate enemies and use Adrenaline Rush and Marksman at the same time. Shepard would eat most of the MP characters for breakfast.

Indeed.

Why would people be raging over the Volus?

The Volus aren't incapable of fighting. People who raged over Volus in multiplayer never paid attention to the lore themselves. All that it was stated about the Volus was that planetary conditions that humans find comfortable, would be hostile to the Volus. While a single suit tear in on an Earth-like planet would doom them, Quarians face the same restrictions, and no one complains about them.

Also it is stated in the lore that Volus serve in the Turian military as auxiliaries as a path to Turian citizenship.

And you don't find it lore-breaking that a Volus can tank a Brute on Gold?

Or that I can play as Qurians and Geth, against Geth, on Thessia, even though they were destroyed in my game?

MP is influenced by lore, not TIED to it.

I would be glad to show you the door when the protheans come.

and the bolded statement is false you can't use marksman at the same time as AR. I do agree that Shepard dominates all MP Kits.

No. I wouldn't use them at all, just like I treat the Volus.
